In one of the best performances of her career, Jessica “Evil” Eye earned her first official UFC victory tonight at UFC 180: “Werdum vs Hunt” in Mexico City, Mexico. Eye excelled on the feet en route to a second-round TKO win over Leslie “The Peacemaker” Smith when the doctor stopped the bout.
Eye started strong and never let up in tonight’s bantamweight battle. She held a clear edge in speed in the striking exchanges and opened a bad cut on Smith’s cauliflowered ear in round one. Smith’s ear got even worse in round two and the fight was stopped on the advice of the cageside doctor.

Undefeated Swedish standout Pannie “Banzai” Kianzad captured her first major MMA title with a clear-cut Unanimous Decision victory tonight at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 74 in London, England. Kianzad defeated Eeva Siiskonen to become CWFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.
Tonight’s inaugural CWFC 135-pound women’s title fight was originally set to feature Kianzad against Polish teen Agnieszka “Kuma” Niedzwiedz, but Niedzwiedz was forced to withdraw due to an injury. Siiskonen stepped in on very short notice, but Kianzad’s superior striking propelled her to victory.

Former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha “Cupcake” Tate makes her return to the Octagon on January 31st at UFC 183: “Silva vs Diaz” in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tate is set to face off against Olympic silver medallist Sara McMann in a featured bantamweight bout on the card.
Tate has rebounded with back-to-back victories this year since suffering her second loss to UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey in December. McMann also came up short against Rousey, but she got back on track by defeating Invicta FC champ Lauren Murphy in August.

Making the most of a second opportunity, Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres picked up a hard-fought win during tonight’s eighth episode of The Ultimate Fighter 20: “A Champion Will Be Crowned.” Torres defeated former ally “Rowdy” Bec Rawlings by Unanimous Decision in a competitive matchup.
Torres and Rawlings began the competition together on Team Melendez, but Torres, who was upset in her initial qualifying bout, was brought back into contention and moved to Team Pettis when Justine Kish suffered an injury. With the win over Rawlings, she moves on to the quarterfinal round.

Seven more fights have been confirmed for Invicta Fighting Championships 10, which takes place on December 5th at Arena Theatre in Houston, Texas. The all-female card is headlined by a previously announced atomweight title bout between Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson and Hérica Tibúrcio.

Former Deep Jewels interim lightweight champ Emi Tomimatsu returned to her winning ways with a well-deserved Split Decision victory on Sunday night at Road Fighting Championship 19 in Seoul, South Korea. Tomimatsu outpointed Hyo Kyung Song in a two-round strawweight bout on the card.
Song had moments of success on the feet in both rounds, but Tomimatsu’s takedowns and superior grappling allowed her to control most of the fight in the clinch and on the mat. Song secured a sweep and finished the fight strong with ground and pound, but it was not enough to steal back the win.

Competing in her home state, Juliana “Ju Thai” de Lima Carneiro picked up her first Octagon victory tonight at UFC Fight Night 56: “Shogun vs St. Preux” in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Lima defeated UFC newcomer Nina “The Strina” Ansaroff in strawweight action on tonight’s main card.
Lima kept Ansaroff pinned down on the mat during much of rounds one and two, but Ansaroff remained active from her back and Lima’s offensive attacks were limited. The pace slowed in the final round and Ansaroff got the better of the striking exchanges, but still came up short on the scorecards.
