Shoot Boxing superstar Rena Kubota outlasted three opponents to win her fourth Girls S-Cup title tonight at Yamano Hall in the Yoyogi district of Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Kubota knocked out Thicha Rongrien Kila Korat in the world tournament final to win the 2014 50kg Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup.
Also tonight, 16-year-old prodigy Yukari Yamaguchi captured her first major title by winning the 2014 48kg Shoot Boxing Japan Girls S-Cup. Yamaguchi, who is arguably Japan’s top female prospect, defeated two-time Shoot Boxing JKS48 Champion Mio Tsumura to win the prestigious tournament.

The 2014 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup took place tonight at Yamano Hall in the Yoyogi district of Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. This year’s event featured both a 48-kilogram all-Japan tournament and an eight-woman 50-kilogram world grand prix. Two champions were crowned in a single evening tonight.

South Korean kickboxer Ga Yeon Song now has an opponent for her mixed martial arts debut on August 17th at Road Fighting Championship 17 in Seoul. The popular 19-year-old star is set to face off against Japan’s Emi Yamamoto in a featured 105-pound atomweight bout on next month’s card.
Road FC officials confirmed the matchup this past week. Song debuted for Road FC as a ring girl in 2013 and she has since gone on to become a television star in South Korea. She is now focused on becoming a legitimate atomweight contender and looks for her first MMA win against Yamamoto.

Both semi-final matchups are now set for this year’s Shoot Boxing 48kg all-Japan Girls S-Cup tournament, which takes place on August 2nd at Yamano Hall in the Yoyogi district of Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. In a rematch, two-time JKS48 winner Mio Tsumura takes on J-Girls champion Momi.
Tsumura and Momi first met in February 2013 when Momi handed Tsumura the lone defeat of her career. In the second 48kg semi-final, MMA and shoot boxing veteran “V.V” Mei Yamaguchi faces highly-touted prospect Yukari Yamaguchi. The semi-final winners will then face off in the tournament final.

J-Girls Mini Flyweight Champion Momi and Dutch kickboxing star Simone van Dommelen are the latest fighters to sign on to compete in the 2014 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup tournaments, which both take place on August 2nd at Yamano Hall in the Yoyogi district of Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.
Momi, who is one of Japan’s top female strikers, will be the fourth and final participant in the 48kg all-Japan Girls S-Cup tournament. 15-year-old “Muay Thai Genius” Saya Ito and reigning J-Girls Mini Flyweight Champion Momi engaged in an action-packed back-and-forth battle on Sunday night at Muaylok 2014: 2nd in Tokyo, Japan. The featured striking matchup ended in a competitive Majority Draw after three close rounds.
Ito has faced highly skilled opponents in each of her bouts this year since turning pro in April following a 93-fight amateur career. She landed strong kicks throughout the bout with Momi and controlled the clinch battles with knees, but Momi’s quick combinations evened the bout on the scorecards.

Five more fights have now been added to next month’s Deep Jewels 5 card in Tokyo, Japan. The event is set to take place on August 9th and features the welterweight (125-pound) debut of top star Shizuka Sugiyama, who faces off against South Korean striker Hyo Kyung Song in a featured bout.
Deep Jewels officials confirmed the Sugiyama-Song fight earlier today along with four additional matchups. In MMA action, grappling ace Yuko “Amiba” Oya clashes with unbeaten prospect Sachiko Fujimori, and 42-fight veteran Masako Yoshida takes on undefeated submission specialist Mina Kurobe.

Two marquee matchups have been announced for Deep Jewels 5, which is set to take place on August 9th at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan. Former Jewels champions will collide when Ayaka Hamasaki returns from an injury hiatus to face Naho “Sugi Rock” Sugiyama in a 106-pound contender’s bout.
Also confirmed for Deep Jewels 5 is a much-anticipated rematch between Deep Jewels Interim Lightweight Champion Emi Tomimatsu and teen prodigy Mizuki Inoue. The pair first faced off in a February fight that Inoue won by third-round submission, but she was disqualified for missing weight.
