The win did not come easily, but Japanese star Rena Kubota rallied back from a shaky start to earn her third straight victory tonight at Rizin Fighting Federation 24 in Saitama, Japan. Kubota scored a hard-fought Unanimous Decision over former Deep Jewels champ Emi Tomimatsu in a 53kg bout.
Kubota, who has competed in combat sports since 2007, spoke backstage and outlined a plan to retire after 2-3 more fights. The 29-year-old, who won the Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup tournament four times prior to making a transition to MMA, also addressed challenges leading up to tonight’s bout.

Deep Jewels Atomweight Champion Tomo Maesawa will make the final defence of her title on October 31st at Deep Jewels 30 in Tokyo, Japan. Maesawa, competing in her retirement bout, will face off against challenger Hikaru Aono in one of eight matchups announced for the card today.

Former Rizin FF Women’s Super Atomweight Champion Ayaka Hamasaki got back on track with a dominant win tonight at Rizin Fighting Federation 22 in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. Hamasaki submitted current Deep Jewels champ Tomo Maesawa in the strawweight co-main event.

The third time was the charm for Seo Hee Ham, as the South Korean star avenged a loss and captured a title tonight at Rizin Fighting Federation 20 in Saitama, Japan. Ham edged out a narrow Split Decision win over Ayaka Hamasaki to become Rizin FF Women’s Super Atomweight Champion.
