Ignacio “La Jaula” Bahamondes vs Zhu Rong

Round 1:
Bahamondes struck with a leg kick and a right cross in the opening minute. He followed with another leg kick and a long jab. Rong struggled to find his range and Bahamondes continued to score with leg kicks while switching stances frequently. A straight left hand backed Rong up and Bahamondes landed another left. He attempted a head kick and then locked on a tight guillotine choke when Rong shot in for a takedown. Bahamondes used the choke to push Rong down and he blasted him with a vicious elbow from the top. Bahamondes spent the final 30 seconds striking from the top with elbows and punches. 10-9 Bahamondes.

Round 2:
Rong charged forward with punches right away in round two, and he landed some solid strikes to the head and body, but Bahamondes fired right back with two power hooks and an overhand right. Rong landed a right hook to the body and blocked a head kick. Bahamondes finished a one-two with a head kick, but he missed with a standing elbow attempt and Rong countered with a lead left hook. Bahamondes jabbed and he landed kicks to Rong’s lead leg and body. Rong scored with a right hook to the body and Bahamondes landed a straight left in return. Bahamondes jabbed and he landed a big overhand right at the bell. 10-9 Bahamondes.

Round 3:
Rong closed the distance with punches and scored a takedown early in the final round, but Bahamondes immediately swept into top position and stood up. He countered another Rong takedown attempt with a power guillotine choke. Rong tried unsuccessfully to spin free from the choke, but he was trapped and tapped out.

Winner: Ignacio Bahamondes by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 1:40 of round three. He improves to 13-4-0.

 

Josiane “Josi” Nunes vs Ramona Pascual

Round 1:
Pascual landed two early leg kicks and Nunes answered with an overhand left. That set off an exchange of power punches and Pascual landed a combination. She finished another combo with a body kick, but Nunes landed two more left hands. As Pascual stepped forward, Nunes knocked her down with a counter left. It was largely a slip, but Nunes dropped her a second time after Pascual returned to her feet. Pascual stood and charged forward with punches, then took Nunes down into full guard. Nunes was active off of her back and she landed numerous elbows to the top of Pascual’s head. Pascual passed to side control and then to North-South position, but Nunes framed up an inverted triangle choke from the bottom. Close opening round. 10-9 Nunes.

Round 2:
Nunes rocked and dropped Pascual with overhand lefts in the second round. Pascual stood against the cage and Nunes hurt her with a barrage of punches. The fight appeared to be on the brink of being stopped, but Pascual – with her right eye rapidly swelling shut – dove at Nunes’s legs. Nunes reversed into mount and struck from the top, but Pascual was able to power out from the bottom and the fighters returned to their feet. Nunes landed an overhand left and the pace slowed until Pascual secured a takedown. Nunes threw elbows from the bottom and Pascual did nothing from top position. 10-8 Nunes.

Round 3:
Pascual attempted a head kick to begin the final round, but Nunes ducked under it and cracked her with a left hook. She landed two more left hands and shrugged off a Pascual clinch attempt. Pascual missed with a spinning backfist and Nunes landed a one-two. She followed with four overhand lefts and Pascual was forced to circle away. Nunes prevented Pascual from clinching once more, then punished her with four punches and a hard kick to the body. In the final 30 seconds, Nunes landed an overhand left and Pascual grazed with a spinning backfist. She took Nunes down and Nunes countered with a kimura until the final bell. 10-9 Nunes.

Winner: Josiane Nunes by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. She improves to 9-1-0.

 

Terrance “T.Wrecks” McKinney vs Fares “Smile Killer” Ziam

Round 1:
McKinney was able to get Ziam down to the mat very early in the fight and he tried to pass straight to mount. Ziam kept him in half-guard and tried to get to his feet against the cage, but McKinney took his back and then moved to mount. Ziam turned to his side and McKinney locked on a modified rear-naked choke. The commentators indicated that Ziam was not in any trouble, but he surprised them by tapping out two seconds later.

Winner: Terrance McKinney by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 2:11 of round one. He improves to 12-3-0.

 

Jonathan “Dragon” Martinez vs Alejandro “Turbo” Perez

Round 1:
After trading leg kicks with Perez, Martinez went high with two head kick attempts that were blocked. He threw another head kick that got over Perez’s guard and grazed off of his temple. Perez landed occasional right hands, but Martinez’s output was much higher and he continued to attack with a variety of kicks. Two body kicks and an outside-leg kick landed for Martinez, who backed up to avoid a lunging combination from Perez. In the final minute, Martinez landed a head kick and Perez grabbed his leg. Martinez pulled his leg free and landed two more kicks, but Perez dropped him with a right hook just before the bell. 10-9 Martinez despite the knockdown.

Round 2:
The second round began with Martinez landing more leg and body kicks. Perez missed with a right hook and Martinez slipped while attempting a head kick. He popped back up to his feet and landed a kick to Perez’s chest. The pace slowed down as the fighters traded cautious leg kicks and kept their distance. Perez eventually switched stances to protect his damaged left leg as Martinez continued to score with leg kicks. Perez charged at Martinez with right and left hooks in the final ten seconds, and he landed three solid shots, but Martinez was again the much more effective striker during the course of the round. 10-9 Martinez.

Round 3:
Perez was aggressive with punches to begin the final round, but Martinez circled away and he used jabs and leg kicks to keep Perez at bay. He landed an overhand left and Perez responded with a right. Perez missed with a right hook and two spinning backfist attempts. Martinez jabbed and followed with a hard left cross. Perez shot in for a takedown, but Martinez reversed it into back control and stood up. Perez followed and he landed two body kicks. In the final seconds, Martinez landed two head kicks and a left cross. 10-9 Martinez.

Winner: Jonathan Martinez by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28). He improves to 15-4-0.

 

Ramiz Brahimaj vs Micheal “The Gentleman” Gillmore

Round 1:
Brahimaj shot in for an early takedown and he took Gillmore’s back after dragging him down to the mat. He worked for a neck crank and a rear-naked choke. Gillmore defended, so Brahimaj transitioned to mount. Gillmore immediately gave up his back again and Brahimaj locked on another rear-naked choke. This one was tight, and Gillmore hastily tapped out.

Winner: Ramiz Brahimaj by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 2:02 of round one. He improves to 10-4-0.

 

Carlos Hernandez vs Victor “El Magnifico” Altamirano

Round 1:
Altamirano clinched early on and tried for a takedown, but Hernandez stayed on his feet and the fighters traded knees to the body. After separating from the clinch, Altamirano landed a one-two and a body kick. He followed up with a left cross and Hernandez answered with a right hand. He landed a hard left hook and a body kick of his own. Hernandez partially blocked a head kick, but it still backed him up momentarily. Soon after, he responded with a head kick and a takedown into side control. Altamirano got back to full guard and punched from his back. As Altamirano scrambled up to his feet, Hernandez tried for a guillotine choke, but Altamirano quickly escaped. Close round. 10-9 Hernandez.

Round 2:
Early in the second round, Altamirano landed a hard kick to the body and Hernandez cracked him with a counter hook. He landed another right hook and Altamirano answered with a left hand to the liver. Altamirano ducked under a head kick and tried for a trip takedown. Hernandez remained on his feet and he briefly held Altamirano in a front headlock. After Altamirano broke free, he landed a head kick and Hernandez immediately answered with a three-punch flurry. Both men landed body kicks and Hernandez’s right side turned bright red. Hernandez reversed a late throw attempt and the round ended in a clinch against the fence. Another back-and-forth round. 10-9 Altamirano.

Round 3:
Altamirano landed two liver kicks in the opening minute of round three. He held Hernandez against the cage and kneed him in the thigh. When the fighters separated, Hernandez landed an uppercut. Altamirano answered with a standing elbow and a combination to the body and head. Hernandez landed knees to the body in a clinch until Altamirano broke free and connected with two looping hooks. After an exchange of body kicks, Hernandez pulled Altamirano’s head down into a knee. Altamirano secured a very brief takedown in the final seconds, but Hernandez stood and landed a right hook at the bell. Very close fight. 10-9 Hernandez.
