Jay Silva vs Jaime “El Cucui” Jara
Round 1:
Big lefts and knees were exchanged right away and Silva rocked Jara with a right hook. He staggered Jara with a follow-up combination, but Jara managed to regain his composure. Silva backed Jara up with a combination and dropped him with an uppercut. He landed one more right hand as Jara crumpled and the fight was stopped.
Winner: Jay Silva by KO (Punches) at 0:33 of round one. He improves to 6-4-0.
Tommy Vargas vs Martin “Tarzan” Sandoval
Round 1:
The fighters circled early on and Vargas landed a combination, then took Sandoval down. Sandoval looked to set up an armbar from the bottom as Vargas punched from the top. Vargas landed a trio of left hands and pressed Sandoval up against the cage on the ground. He landed a flurry of punches and an elbow.
Sandoval battled back to his feet and landed kicks, but Vargas caught one and took him right back down. Vargas returned to punches and short elbows from the top as Sandoval looked for another armbar. He was unable to secure it and referee Josh Rosenthal opted to stand the fighters up. Vargas floored Sandoval with a left hook and followed with punches on the ground. Sandoval recovered and held on until the bell. 10-9 Vargas.
Round 2:
Sandoval swarmed with punches early in the second round, but Vargas cracked him with a hard counter right hook. Sandoval clinched and Vargas took him down. Vargas punched from the top as Sandoval tied him up and prevented him from posturing up. Vargas landed more punches until the fight was again stood up for no apparent reason. The fighters clinched and Vargas backed Sandoval up to the cage.
Knees were exchanged in close as both fighters looked to take control of the clinch. They were separated again and Vargas scored a takedown. Vargas moved briefly to half-guard, but voluntarily returned to Sandoval’s full guard and pressed him up against the cage. Vargas punched and Sandoval tried for an armbar. The fight returned to the feet and Sandoval landed two kicks in the final seconds. 10-9 Vargas.
Round 3:
The fighters cautiously circled in the final round until Vargas scored with a crisp one-two combination. Sandoval began to land kicks and Vargas answered with more punches. The two continued to trade strikes and Sandoval just missed with an uppercut. Sandoval threw a body kick and Vargas caught it. He took Sandoval down and punched from the top in Sandoval’s guard. Sandoval was unable to set up a submission before the final bell. 10-9 Vargas.
Winner: Tommy Vargas by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 7-1-0.
Tony Llamas vs Sergio Quinones
Round 1:
Quinones rushed in right away and clinched against the cage. He took Llamas down and moved right to back control. Quinones looked for a rear-naked choke, but lost the position while trying to transition into an armbar. Llamas punched from the top and Quinones tried to scramble to his feet. Llamas landed punches and hammerfists until Quinones pulled guard with a triangle choke attempt.
Llamas moved into a triangle choke of his own from the top, but wound up on his back. Quinones escaped and scrambled, but Llamas took top position in half-guard and landed elbows. Three big punches landed for Llamas and he attempted a guillotine choke. Quinones escaped and the fighters scrambled again. Llamas struck from the top and landed hard punches as Quinones stood. Llamas took him back down and battered him with elbows before the bell. 10-9 Llamas.
Round 2:
Quinones took Llamas down in the second round and landed in half-guard, then tried to move to mount. Llamas initially defended by rolling, but Quinones passed to side-control and then mount. Llamas scrambled to Quinones’s back and locked on a rear-naked choke, but Quinones escaped. Llamas struck from the top, then tried for a triangle choke in another scramble. A split second later, he switched to an armbar and Quinones immediately tapped out.
Winner: Tony Llamas by Submission (Armbar) at 2:03 of round two. He improves to 10-12-0, 1 NC.
Jimmy “The Titan” Ambriz vs Mike Guidry
Round 1:
Ambriz pushed forward with punches and clinched in the opening 30 seconds. He took Guidry down near the cage and punched from the top. Guidry eventually managed to make his way back to his feet and the fighters exchanged punches. Ambriz landed kicks, but Guidry became the aggressor as Ambriz slowed down. Both fighters landed kicks and one from Guidry strayed low. Ambriz was given time to recover and punches were exchanged before the bell. Close round. 10-9 Ambriz.
Round 2:
The fighters traded strikes on the feet in the second round and Ambriz took Guidry down. He struck from the top in Guidry’s guard and bloodied him with punches. Guidry’s face became a mess as Ambriz continued to batter him with strikes from the top. Ambriz continued to land punches until Guidry rolled over. Ambriz landed a few more shots to the head and body and referee Herb Dean stopped the fight.
Winner: Jimmy Ambriz by TKO (Punches) at 4:29 of round two. He improves to 15-14-1.
Nik “The Machete” Fekete vs Chris “El Gringo” Bostick
Round 1:
Bostick rushed in right away and clinched. The fight went to the mat, but Fekete worked back to his feet and put Bostick up against the cage. He took Bostick down and briefly held back control, but Bostick regained guard. Bostick landed hammerfists from his back as Fekete stood over him. Fekete returned to Bostick’s guard and landed effective punches from the top.
Fekete moved to half-guard and looked to isolate Bostick’s right arm, but Bostick defended and Fekete eventually stood up. The fight returned to the feet and the fighters exchanged uppercuts. Fekete landed a big right hand and a knee, but Bostick clinched. More punches scored for Fekete as he backed Bostick up to the cage. Bostick answered with two body kicks before the bell. 10-9 Fekete.
Round 2:
The fighters traded punches in round two and Fekete landed a pair of kicks that prompted Bostick to shoot in for a takedown. Fekete stood over Bostick and landed some hard punches, then dove in with a right hand. He followed with more punches as Bostick rolled to his side. Bostick tried to grabbed onto Fekete’s leg, but ate more punches for his efforts.
Fekete worked from Bostick’s half-guard and punched to the body. He landed a right to the face and stood up. Bostick slowly followed as his eye began to swell. Fekete landed a knee and punches as he scored at will with strikes. After another flurry, referee Herb Dean stopped the fight.
Winner: Nik Fekete by TKO (Knees & Punches) at 4:06 of round two. He improves to 4-0-0.
