Following a 93-fight amateur career that included numerous title reigns, 15-year-old “Muay Thai Genius” Saya Ito made a successful professional kickboxing debut on Sunday night at Muaylok 2014: 1st in Tokyo, Japan. Ito defeated South Korea’s Hye-Young Park in the five-round co-main event.
Ito proved again on Sunday that she is one of the top female kickboxers in Japan by overwhelming Park with lightning-fast kicks and combinations. Park had success with overhand rights in the early rounds, but Ito’s speed proved to be too great and she cruised to a Unanimous Decision victory.

One of Brazil’s top female fighters, Kalindra Faria, picked up her 11th straight victory tonight at XFC International 4 in Osasco, São Paulo, Brazil. Faria battered and bloodied Serbian prospect Sanja Sučević en route to a lopsided Unanimous Decision win in the XFCi 4 strawweight co-feature.
Faria dominated tonight’s bout with Sučević on the ground and she nearly finished the fight with a pair of tight armbars in round one. Sučević narrowly survived, but Faria slashed up her face with elbows in the middle stanza and she continued her offensive onslaught in round three to seal the victory.

Brazilian rising star Bethe “Pitbull” Correia kept her undefeated record intact with a well-deserved victory tonight at UFC 172: “Jones vs Teixeira” in Baltimore, Maryland. Correia earned a Unanimous Decision win over TUF 18 competitor Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke on tonight’s preliminary card.
Correia showcased her underrated striking skills throughout the three-round bout and she repeatedly scored with leg kicks and quick punches that kept the much taller Duke guessing. Duke had success with throws, but Correia countered with takedowns of her own en route to an impressive victory.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship came to Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland tonight for UFC 172: “Jones vs Teixeira.” The event was headlined by a UFC Light Heavyweight Championship bout between reigning champ Jon “Bones” Jones and top 205-pound title contender Glover Teixeira.

Former Valkyrie Featherweight Champion “V.V” Mei Yamaguchi makes her Deep Jewels debut on May 18th at Deep Jewels 4 in Tokyo, Japan. The skilled grappler is set to face off against journeywoman Yukiko Seki in a featured 48-kilogram matchup that was officially announced earlier today.
Yamaguchi was in talks to compete for Deep Jewels when the promotion formed this past year, but she instead opted to sign with Pacific Xtreme Combat. Also announced today for the Deep Jewels 4 card was a grappling match between veteran Miyoko Kusaka and newcomer Sayuri Yamaguchi.

Invicta Fighting Championships continues to replenish its 115-pound division with the recent additions of XFC champion Stephanie “Snowflake” Eggink and unbeaten Xtreme Kombat titleholder Alexa Grasso. Eggink and Grasso signed with Invicta FC this past week and both will debut later this year.
MMARising.com confirmed Eggink’s signing with multiple sources close to the promotion on Sunday. She has won three straight fights and captured the XFC Women’s Strawweight Championship in September. Grasso joins teammate and fellow Xtreme Kombat champion Irene Aldana on the roster.

Former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha “Cupcake” Tate overcame a slow start in round one and earned her first Octagon win tonight at UFC on FOX 11: “Werdum vs Browne” in Orlando, Florida. Tate defeated former U.S. Marine Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche in the co-feature.
The opening round of tonight’s featured matchup belonged to Carmouche and she kept Tate on the defensive with takedowns and ground control. Tate stole round two with submission attempts and she dominated the final five minutes of the fight en route to a hard-fought Unanimous Decision win.
