One of Brazil’s top female fighters, Kalindra Faria, picked up her 11th straight victory tonight at XFC International 4 in Osasco, São Paulo, Brazil. Faria battered and bloodied Serbian prospect Sanja Sučević en route to a lopsided Unanimous Decision win in the XFCi 4 strawweight co-feature.
Faria dominated tonight’s bout with Sučević on the ground and she nearly finished the fight with a pair of tight armbars in round one. Sučević narrowly survived, but Faria slashed up her face with elbows in the middle stanza and she continued her offensive onslaught in round three to seal the victory.
Faria (15-3-1) recently signed a new contract with XFC and she made a big statement to the rest of the promotion’s women’s strawweight division with tonight’s performance. After taking Sučević (4-3-0) down in round one, Faria stood over her and dropped a series of hard right hands. She mounted Sučević soon after and continued to rain down punches, then transitioned to an armbar. Sučević escaped once, but Faria trapped her in another one. Sučević repeatedly slammed Faria on her head in an effort to break free and Faria switched to an omoplata just before the bell.
Both women landed combinations in round two and Faria backed Sučević up with a right hook. Sučević replied back with a four-punch combo and the fighters exchanged more strikes on the feet. Faria took Sučević down and she escaped from a guillotine choke. She worked from the top in Sučević’s guard until there was just over one minute remaining in the round. Faria mounted Sučević and landed a series of elbows that cut the Serbian fighter below the left eye and above the right. She continued to batter Sučević until the end of the round.
Although she was clearly well ahead on the scorecards, Faria did not let up in round three. She scored another takedown and landed knees in the clinch after Sučević returned to her feet. Sučević had brief success with kicks to the body and head, but Faria tripped her once more and mounted her soon after. She unloaded with elbows until Sučević scrambled out the back. Faria locked on one more armbar and Sučević held on until time expired.
Sučević showed tremendous heart in fighting through Faria’s submission attempts and violent ground and pound, but the judges had an easy task in determining a winner. All three scored the fight 30-27 for Faria, who has won 11 fights in a row including three in the past six weeks. She has quickly become one of the premier female fighters in Brazil and is now one of the top stars on the XFC roster.
Winner: Kalindra Faria by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. She improves to 15-3-1.
