In one of the best fights in the history of The Ultimate Fighter competition, Raquel “Rocky” Pennington earned a big win during tonight’s sixth episode of TUF 18: “Team Rousey vs Team Tate” on FOX Sports 1 and Sportsnet 360. Pennington outpointed Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke after three rounds.
Both fighters put on excellent performances in tonight’s battle, which was even on the scorecards after two rounds. Pennington came on strong in an extension round to take a Unanimous Decision victory over Duke, giving Miesha “Cupcake” Tate a 3-2 lead over rival coach “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship came to José Corrêa Gymnasium in Barueri, São Paulo, Brazil tonight for UFC Fight Night 29: “Maia vs Shields.” The card was headlined by a pivotal five-round welterweight fight between world-renowned jiu-jitsu specialists Demian Maia and Jake Shields.
Also tonight, top welterweight prospect Erick “Índio” Silva took on Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim in the co-feature. Thiago Silva looked for his second straight win when he battled Matt “The Hammer” Hamill in a featured light heavyweight bout. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the main card.

Former Jewels atomweight prospect Satomi “Sarami” Takano looks to get back on the winning track when she returns to action on November 17th at Deep: “Toyama Impact – Rookies 3” in Toyama, Japan. Takano is set to face off against skilled grappler Miyoko Kusaka on the card next month.
Deep officials confirmed plans for the bout this week. Takano opened her pro career with a pair of key victories for Jewels this past year, but she has suffered decision losses in each of her past two fights. Kusaka scored a much-needed victory over “Happy” Fukuko Hamada at Deep Jewels 1.

This past Saturday night, MMA legend Megumi “Mega Megu” Fujii fought for the final time in a rematch with Jessica “Jag” Aguilar at Vale Tudo Japan 3rd in Tokyo. The controversial bout was marred by eye pokes and Aguilar was initially declared the winner by doctor stoppage after the second round.
VTJ officials announced today that the result of the fight has been changed. Aguilar retains her victory, but the win will now be officially classified as a Technical Majority Decision. Aguilar held a lead on two judges’ scorecards following the first two rounds. A third judge had the abbreviated bout even.

One of MMA’s most experienced female fighters, Julie “Fireball” Kedzie, is set to welcome an Octagon newcomer to the UFC on December 7th at UFC Fight Night 33: “Hunt vs Bigfoot” in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Kedzie faces unbeaten Russian prospect Aleksandra “Stitch” Albu on the card.
UFC officials announced the featured bantamweight matchup today. Kedzie is coming off of a close Split Decision loss to Germaine “The Iron Lady” de Randamie in her July UFC debut. Albu reportedly began her MMA career with four fights in Thailand and most recently earned a TKO victory in June.

Mixed martial arts legend Megumi “Mega Megu” Fujii’s storied career came to a disappointing end tonight in the main event of Vale Tudo Japan 3rd in Ota, Tokyo, Japan. Fujii was once again defeated by Jessica “Jag” Aguilar tonight, this time as a result of a doctor stoppage due to an eye injury.
Aguilar and Fujii first faced off at Bellator 69 in May 2012, where Aguilar prevailed via a contentious Unanimous Decision. Fujii was poked in the eye early in tonight’s rematch, prompting a break of longer than 15 minutes. When her eye became even worse, the doctor was forced to stop the fight.

Two more fights have now been added to the upcoming Deep Jewels 2 card on November 4th in Tokyo, Japan. Former Jewels Featherweight Queen Champion Naho “Sugi Rock” Sugiyama looks to put an end to a three-fight losing skid when she takes on veteran journeywoman Masako Yoshida.
Deep Jewels officials announced the fight on Friday. Sugiyama relinquished her Jewels title to Seo Hee Ham in May. Yoshida most recently picked up a big victory over Satomi Takano at Deep Jewels 1. Also confirmed for the Deep Jewels 2 card is a fight between Naomi Taniyama and Tamaki Usui.

Former top Jewels star Shizuka Sugiyama looks for her fifth straight victory when she returns to action on November 24th at Deep: “Cage Impact 2013” in Tokyo, Japan. Sugiyama is set to take on South Korean kickboxer Ji Yun Kim in a featured bout on the card. Elbow strikes will be permitted.
Deep officials announced plans for the fight earlier today. Sugiyama has finished three straight opponents and she made a successful Deep debut with a 76-second TKO victory in July. Kim makes her MMA debut in next month’s fight after competing in kickboxing matches for Jewels and Deep.
