Decorated boxing champion Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm picked up another impressive stoppage victory in her return to MMA competition tonight at Bellator 91 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Holm overwhelmed Katie Merrill with kicks and punches to the body to earn a second-round TKO win.
Just as in each of her prior MMA bouts, Holm was once again cautious early in tonight’s fight and she picked her shots from a distance. By the end of the opening round, however, Holm had worn Merrill down with liver kicks and she continued to batter her smaller opponent until the fight was waved off.

Top-ranked strawweight Jessica “Jag” Aguilar at last has an opponent for her return to action at Bellator 94 on March 28th in Tampa, Florida. Aguilar will face off against veteran contender “Little” Patricia Vidonic in a rematch from one year ago. The featured bout will be contested at 115 pounds.
MMARising.com confirmed plans for the fight with a source close to the negotiations today following an announcement from Vidonic. Aguilar has not fought since May when she defeated Megumi “Mega Megu” Fujii at Bellator 69. Vidonic looks for her first Bellator victory in her return to the promotion.

Jewels title contender Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino will make her Pancrase debut on May 19th at Pancrase 247 in Tokyo, Japan. Fujino is set to face off against New Mexico’s Monica Lovato in a featured matchup at 115 pounds. Pancrase officials announced plans for the strawweight fight earlier today.
The bout between Fujino and Lovato joins a previously announced matchup pitting Bantamweight Queen of Pancrase Rin Nakai against Lovato’s Fit NHB teammate, Brenda “Boom Boom” Gonzales, on the card. Both Fujino and Lovato will look to rebound from close decision losses in title fights.

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey fought through early adversity and successfully retained her title tonight in the main event of UFC 157: “Rousey vs Carmouche” in Anaheim, California. Rousey submitted Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche with an armbar late in round one.
Carmouche had great success in the opening two minutes of the fight and nearly submitted Rousey with a standing neck crank, but the champion stayed calm and went to work on the ground. She methodically worked to pass to mount and spun into an armbar that forced Carmouche to tap out.
