NAAFS: "Eve Of Destruction" Live Play-By-Play & ResultsThe North American Allied Fight Series held its first all-female event tonight at the Chapparells Community Center in Akron, Ohio. The solid card was headlined by a 125-pound pro bout between Jessica “Evil” Eye and Marissa Caldwell and also featured some of the top female amateurs in the area.

Also on the main card, Jessica “The DNA Princess” Zomcik took on the unbeaten Amanda Wilcoxen in a lightweight bout, while Shannon Floyd squared off with Trisha Barr in a bantamweight battle. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for all of the fights on the historic card.

 

Pro Super Flyweight Bout

Jessica “Evil” Eye vs Marissa “Shorty” Caldwell

Round 1:
Caldwell opened the fight with a one-two and Eye answered with a body kick. She reversed a takedown and pressed Caldwell up against the cage. Eye took Caldwell down and landed in half-guard. Caldwell worked for an armbar and Eye used her knee to defend. Caldwell rolled and maintained the armbar. Eye landed an illegal knee to Caldwell’s head, but she was only warned and strangely not deducted a point.

The fighters were stood up and Eye secured a guillotine choke. She pulled guard with it, but Caldwell escaped. She punched from the top and Eye rolled into another armbar. Caldwell got out and Eye worked from the top in side-control. Eye landed a knee to the upper body and postured up. She threw punches and hammerfists and fought off a kneebar attempt from Caldwell. Close round. 10-9 Eye.

Round 2:
Eye landed a nice one-two in the second round and followed with kicks to the body. She took Caldwell down and stood over her. Eye landed punches from a standing position and dove into Caldwell’s guard. Caldwell attempted an armbar and Eye pulled her way out. Eye stood and Caldwell followed. Eye landed a leg kick and two solid right hands. Caldwell tried to take the fight to the mat, but Eye stayed on her feet and Caldwell stood again.

Eye took Caldwell down and punched from the top. The fight returned to the feet and Eye landed a body kick and a one-two. Caldwell pulled guard and Eye moved from side-control to mount. She locked on a keylock, but Caldwell muscled out. Eye switched to punches and landed some big shots from the top. Caldwell barely survived until the bell. Dominant end to the round. 10-9 Eye.

Round 3:
Eye landed a right cross early in the final round and reversed a takedown attempt from Caldwell. She struck from the top and isolated Caldwell’s arms. Eye threw punches with her free hand, but Caldwell regained guard and attempted an armbar. The fight returned to the feet and Caldwell’s nose was bloodied. Eye landed quick punches and a body kick. Eye threw Caldwell to the mat and once again struck from the top. She threw a big flurry of punches and connected with two.

Eye stood and kicked at Caldwell’s legs. Caldwell got to her feet and landed a one-two and a right cross. Eye jabbed and took Caldwell down again. Caldwell did her best to tie Eye up, but Eye managed to get in some punches with her left hand. More punches landed for Eye and Caldwell managed to regain guard. The fighters stood and exchanged punches in the final seconds. 10-9 Eye.

Winner: Jessica Eye by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three 5:00 rounds. She improves to 2-0-0 as a professional.

 

Amateur Lightweight Bout

“The DNA Princess” Jessica Zomcik vs “The All-American Girl” Amanda Wilcoxen

Round 1:
The fighters cautiously circled early on in this rematch and Wilcoxen flashed out leg kicks. Zomcik countered with a one-two and a series of stiff jabs that snapped Wilcoxen’s head back. Wilcoxen kept her distance and stuck to leg kicks while Zomcik tagged her with crisp counterpunches. Zomcik landed a glancing trio of punches and another flurry in the final seconds. Close and tentative first round. 10-9 Zomcik.

Round 2:
Wilcoxen once again stayed on the outside with leg kicks in round two and Zomcik countered with punches. She jabbed and landed right hands as Wilcoxen seemed content to do little more than throw weak leg kicks. A big one-two snapped Wilcoxen’s head back and Zomcik pawed out with more jabs. Zomcik landed an inside leg kick and quick punches in the final 20 seconds. 10-9 Zomcik.

Round 3:
Zomcik countered kicks from Wilcoxen with jabs and right hands in the final round. Two lead left hooks connected for Zomcik as Wilcoxen stuck to leg kicks. Zomcik landed a hard leg kick of her own and Wilcoxen pulled guard. Zomcik threw short hammerfists from the top and Wilcoxen tied her up. Wilcoxen struck from her back and Zomcik postured up. She stayed busy with hammerfists and fought off an armbar seconds before the bell. 10-9 Zomcik.

Winner: Jessica Zomcik by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three 3:00 rounds.

 

Amateur Bantamweight Bout

Trisha Barr vs Shannon “SMFF” Floyd

Round 1:
Floyd landed a combination early on and clinched. The fighters traded knees and Floyd mixed in punches to the body. She looked for a takedown and Barr pulled guard with a guillotine choke. Floyd fought off the choke and worked from the top, but Barr postured up for a triangle choke and an armbar. Floyd escaped to side-control, but Barr took her back. Floyd regained position and punched from the top in a crucifix during the final seconds. Close round due to Floyd’s late rally. 10-9 Barr.

Round 2:
An exchange of punches opened the second round and Floyd landed hooks over the top. She clinched and backed Barr up to the cage with body shots. Barr tried for a hip toss and managed to briefly get Floyd down. Floyd stood and Barr used a guillotine choke to push Floyd to the ground on her back. Barr took Floyd’s back, but lost the position and Floyd threw hammerfists from Barr’s guard. Barr locked on an armbar and Floyd spun to the side to alleviate pressure. Good round. 10-9 Barr.

Round 3:
Knees and punches were exchanged in a clinch to begin the final round and Floyd tried for a takedown. Barr reversed and wound up on top in mount against the cage. She took Floyd’s back and tried for a rear-naked choke. Floyd tried to escape, but Barr switched to a neck crank and Floyd was forced to submit.

Winner: Trisha Barr by Submission (Neck Crank) at 1:36 of round three.

 

Amateur 150-Pound Bout

Tamikka Brents vs Tera Carper

Round 1:
Carper opened the fight with a leg kick and ate a barrage of punches for her efforts. Brents slammed her to the mat and struck from the top as Carper tried to work back to her feet. Brents battered Carper with huge punches and hammerfists from the top, but the referee allowed the fight to continue. More short punches landed for Brents and she worked for a keylock. Brents let the hold go and attacked with more punches, then went for a second keylock. She moved to mount and unloaded with right hands until the fight was finally stopped.

Winner: Tamikka Brents by TKO (Punches) at 2:34 of round one.

 

Amateur Flyweight Bout

Jordan McDonald vs Summer Artherton

Round 1:
Artherton landed a left hook and a body kick to open the fight, but McDonald took her down. She tried to pass Artherton’s guard, but Artherton worked back to her feet and locked on a guillotine choke. She pulled guard with the guillotine, then transitioned into a modified Peruvian Necktie. McDonald escaped and moved to side-control, then mount. Artherton swept and wound up in McDonald’s guard. McDonald impressively spun into an armbar and Artherton tapped out right at the bell. Excellent fight.

Winner: Jordan McDonald by Submission (Armbar) at 2:59 of round one.

 

Amateur 150-Pound Bout

Rachel “The Rage” Dovidio vs Hannah Fitzpatrick

Round 1:
Big punches landed for both fighters right away and they clinched against the cage. Both threw short punches and knees for nearly a minute until the referee separated them. Dovidio landed big punches and Fitzpatrick fired back with a combination of her own. More punches landed for Dovidio and she secured a tight standing guillotine choke. She lifted Fitzpatrick off of the ground with the choke, but Fitzpatrick survived until the bell. 10-9 Dovidio.

Round 2:
Dovidio landed hard punches in a lengthy flurry in round two and Fitzpatrick countered with a quick three-punch combination and clinched. She landed knees to Dovidio’s legs and kept her pinned against the cage. Dovidio broke free with punches and scored with a nice kick-punch combo that bloodied Fitzpatrick’s nose. Dovidio landed another combination and Fitzpatrick clinched. She retained cage control, but Dovidio landed all of the damaging strikes in the round. 10-9 Dovidio.

Round 3:
The fighters clinched early in the final round and Dovidio landed short knees. She tripped Fitzpatrick to the mat and worked from the top in half-guard. Dovidio landed punches and moved to mount. She teed off with right hands until the referee stopped the fight. Good win for Dovidio, but credit to both fighters for taking the fight on extremely short notice.

Winner: Rachel Dovidio by TKO (Punches) at 1:47 of round three.
