Two of the strawweight division’s brightest female prospects will collide in a featured matchup on December 3rd at The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hawaiian standout Kailin Curran battles former Invicta FC contender and recent TUF 23 contestant Jamie Moyle on the card.
KHON-TV in Hawaii first reported on plans for the fight this week. Curran finds herself in another potential must-win situation after suffering a quick submission loss to Felice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig at UFC on FOX 20. Moyle makes her official UFC debut following a solid showing on TUF 23.

Following an unsuccessful title bid in July, Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha aims to get back into UFC championship contention with a win in her home country on November 19th at UFC Fight Night 100: “Bader vs Nogueira” in São Paulo, Brazil. Gadelha faces Cortney “Cast Iron” Casey on the card.
UFC officials announced the strawweight fight today. Gadelha challenged champ Joanna Jędrzejczyk in a rematch at the TUF 23 Finale, but suffered her second decision loss to the unbeaten Polish star. Casey is coming off of back-to-back first-round stoppage wins in a six-week span this summer.

Top-ranked featherweight contender Julia “The Jewel” Budd looks to once again earn her spot in a Bellator title fight with a victory on October 21st at Bellator 162: “Shlemenko vs Grove” in Memphis, Tennessee. Budd is set to battle Arlene “Angerfist” Blencowe in 145-pound action on the card.
Bellator officials announced the matchup today. Budd has twice been set to compete for the Bellator Women’s Featherweight Championship, which has yet to be formally established, but injuries derailed plans for both bouts. She brings a six-fight winning streak into next month’s bout with Blencowe.

Shoot Boxing Women’s Flyweight Champion Rena Kubota kept her perfect MMA record intact with another impressive submission victory tonight at Rizin Fighting Federation 2 in Saitama, Japan. Kubota finished standout wrestler Miyu Yamamoto with a power guillotine choke late in the first round.
In addition to the 49kg bout between Kubota and Yamamoto, Rizin FF 2 featured two more female fights. Kanako Murata outpointed Kyra “Mogwai” Batara in featured strawweight action, and Gabi Garcia submitted Destanie Yarbrough with a first-round keylock in the heavyweight card opener.

Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino made it two in a row inside the UFC Octagon with another dominant stoppage victory tonight at UFC Fight Night 95 in Brasilia, Brazil. Justino finished Sweden’s Lina “Elbow Princess” Länsberg in the 140-pound catchweight main event.
Justino was in control of tonight’s bout from start to finish, but Länsberg employed a smart strategy and she limited Justino’s damage by keeping the fight in close quarters. Justino threw a bloodied Länsberg to the mat in round two and flurried with ground and pound until the bout was finally stopped.

UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk puts her title on the line against a familiar foe on November 12th at UFC 205 in New York City, New York. Jędrzejczyk is set to face off against fellow Polish star Karolina Kowalkiewicz in a rematch from a March 2012 amateur bout.
UFC officials confirmed the title fight on Friday following a report from Flo Combat. Also confirmed was a bantamweight bout between former champ Miesha “Cupcake” Tate and Raquel “Rocky” Pennington, first reported by ESPN. Elsewhere, Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche battles Katlyn Chookagian.

Following a shocking upset loss in May, Marloes “Rumina” Coenen looks to get back into featherweight title contention when she steps back into the cage on November 4th at Bellator 163: “McGeary vs Davis” in Uncasville, Connecticut. Coenen takes on unbeaten Brazilian Talita “Treta” Nogueira.
Bellator officials announced the fight on Friday. Coenen was expected to compete for the inaugural Bellator Women’s Featherweight Championship at Bellator 155, but was instead submitted by short-notice replacement foe Alexis “Sneaky Zebra” Dufresne. Nogueira has won all six of her pro bouts.
