Satoko Shinashi Faces Ji Hye Park At Road FC 24 In TokyoDeep Women’s Flyweight Champion “Princess” Satoko Shinashi looks to extend her winning streak to five when she makes her Road FC debut on July 25th at Road Fighting Championship 24 in Tokyo, Japan. Shinashi is set to face off against unbeaten South Korean prospect Ji Hye Park.

Road FC officials announced the 105-pound atomweight bout this week. Shinashi returned to MMA in October following a six-year retirement, and she has since racked up three straight first-round finishes. Park easily won her professional MMA debut against Miyu Irie at Road FC 21 in February.

Shinashi (32-2-2) has quickly dispatched of each of her opponents since returning to the sport in October, but she has faced criticism for taking fights against fighters with very limited experience. The veteran judoka first stopped 15-year-old pro debutant Ye Jin Jung at Deep: “69th Impact,” then finished both Rika Hamada and Emi Yamamoto with slick armbars. Shinashi has repeatedly called out Road FC superstar Ga Yeon “Deadly Beauty” Song, but she will first have to get past the challenge of Park in Road Fighting Championship’s Japanese debut.

Park (1-0-0), in stark contrast to Shinashi’s two most recent opponents, represents a tough test for Shinashi in spite of her limited MMA experience. In February, Park completely dominated Irie on the mat for more than eight minutes before ultimately finishing the bout with punches in the second round. Park showcased strong wrestling and grappling skills in the lopsided fight, as well as some nasty ground and pound from top position. She holds a massive ten-inch height advantage over the much smaller Shinashi, and an upset win for Park is a very real possibility.

Road Fighting Championship 24 takes place on July 25th at Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan. The event marks the long-running South Korean promotion’s first foray into the Land of the Rising Sun.
