Emi Tomimatsu To Face Hyo Kyung Song At Road FC 19 In SeoulFormer Deep Jewels Interim Lightweight Champion Emi Tomimatsu is set to make her Road FC debut on November 9th at Road Fighting Championship 19 in Seoul, South Korea. Tomimatsu faces off against South Korean striker Hyo Kyung Song in a featured strawweight bout on the event’s main card.

Road FC officials announced the matchup earlier this week. Tomimatsu became the first Deep Jewels 114-pound champion in February, but she lost the belt to Mizuki Inoue in an August rematch. Song most recently picked up her first pro MMA victory by stopping Hazuki Kimura at Road FC 16.

Tomimatsu (7-8-0) has long been one of Japan’s most underrated fighters and the skilled grappler has battled many of the sport’s top female strawweights during her career. In November, she avenged a razor-thin loss by defeating Mika “Future Princess” Nagano to advance to the finals of the inaugural Deep Jewels lightweight title tournament. At Deep Jewels 3 in February, Tomimatsu was declared the Deep Jewels Interim Lightweight Champion when her opponent, Inoue, failed to make weight. Inoue avenged the controversial loss by submitting Tomimatsu in a competitive rematch at Deep Jewels 5.

Song (1-4-0) transitioned from kickboxing to MMA in September 2012 and made her pro MMA debut against former pound-for-pound star Yuka “Vale Tudo Queen” Tsuji under the Deep banner. Song’s debut ended in a quick submission defeat and she suffered three more losses against formidable opponents in Japan, but did put on strong showings against Inoue and Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino. In July, Song competed at home for the first time in her MMA career and earned a second-round TKO victory over Kimura at Road FC 16. She now looks to make it two in a row by upsetting Tomimatsu next month.

Road Fighting Championship 19 is set to take place on November 9th at Seoul Olympic Hall in Seoul, South Korea.
