Ashlee Evans-Smith Now Set To Face Anna Barone At CFA 11Former Tuff-N-Uff champion Ashlee Evans-Smith is back in the inaugural CFA women’s featherweight tournament. The talented wrestler is now set to face Anna “Smiles” Barone in a semi-final bout at Championship Fighting Alliance 11, which takes place on May 24th in Coral Gables, Florida.

MMARising.com confirmed the new booking with sources close to the fight today. Evans-Smith advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Tori Adams at CFA 10 and later tried out for The Ultimate Fighter 18. Barone enters the tournament in place of TUF 18 hopeful Peggy “The Daywalker” Morgan.

Evans-Smith (1-0-0) kicked off her pro career on March 2nd in one of four quarterfinal bouts in the CFA tournament. In a hard-fought back-and-forth battle against former amateur rival Adams, Evans-Smith prevailed via Unanimous Decision and avenged a past loss in the process. She was then expected to face off against Morgan in the semi-final round at CFA 11, but both fighters were removed from the card after taking part in the TUF 18 tryouts. A recent report from The Wrestling Observer newsletter named Evans-Smith as one of 17 fighters who were rumoured to have made the final cut for TUF 18, but the 25-year-old will instead reclaim her spot in the second round of the CFA tournament.

Barone (2-3-0) steps back into the cage for the first time since suffering a one-sided TKO loss to current Invicta FC competitor Kaitlin Young in January 2012. Barone was unable to make weight for the fight and was picked apart by Young’s leg kicks, which forced the cageside doctor to halt the bout after the second round. Prior to the loss to Young, Barone scored her biggest win to date when she knocked out Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet in just 18 seconds. A bout between Barone and fellow Canadian Sarah “Cheesecake” Moras failed to materialise earlier this year and the Ontario native now enters the CFA tournament on short notice in hopes of scoring an upset victory.

Championship Fighting Alliance 11 takes place on May 24th at BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Florida. The second women’s featherweight semi-final matchup pits Fallon “The Queen of Swords” Fox against Allanna “Hands of Stone” Jones.

  1. So I guess Morgan made it and Smith didn’t. Sucks for Smith, but she is green as hell and needs a lot more fights.

  2. Barone forfeits the fight to Evans-Smith do to not making the weight..
