Texas-based prospect Jinh Yu will make her pro debut on April 6th at Sugar Creek Showdown 16: “Resolution” in Hinton, Oklahoma. Yu faces Invicta FC veteran Meghan Wright in an SCS women’s atomweight title fight. The 105-pound matchup was officially announced for the card this past week.

Yu will be competing in her second straight title fight when she faces Wright. In September, she vied for the vacant Tuff-N-Uff 110-pound women’s title, but dropped a close decision to Jordan McDonald. Wright looks to get back on the winning track after suffering a submission loss in her Invicta debut.

Yu (3-2-0 amateur) began her amateur career with victories in three of her first four fights, including a pair of first-round stoppages. Following an 11-month layoff, she returned to action this past September to face the highly-touted McDonald in a three-round Tuff-N-Uff title fight. The bout was closely contested throughout, but McDonald’s clinch control proved to be enough to take the victory on the scorecards. Yu now joins a group of talented female fighters who have recently made the move to the professional ranks and she looks to capture championship gold in her first pro bout.

Wright (1-4-0) brings a considerable edge in experience into the title fight. Following a lengthy amateur career, Wright turned pro in March 2009 and she has yet to see the second round in any of her five pro bouts. All four of her defeats have come against tough opponents, including fellow Invicta FC veterans Angelica Chavez, Amy Davis and Cassie Rodish. The submission loss to Rodish came in the first fight on the inaugural Invicta FC card this past April. Wright has since relocated to train with Siege MMA in Arizona and she will be looking to showcase her new skills in next month’s title fight.

Sugar Creek Showdown 16: “Resolution” takes place on April 6th at the Sugar Creek Casino in Hinton, Oklahoma. The bout between Yu and Wright will be contested for the first SCS Women’s Atomweight Championship at 105 pounds.
