Bec Hyatt vs Jasminka Cive Targeted For Invicta FC 5 On April 6International strawweight prospects will collide on April 6th when Australia’s “Rowdy” Bec Hyatt faces Austrian striker Jasminka Cive at Invicta Fighting Championships 5. The event takes place at a venue to be determined in the state of Missouri and is headlined by a pair of Invicta FC title bouts.

MMARising.com confirmed plans for the Hyatt-Cive matchup with sources close to the negotiations on Sunday. Hyatt put on a strong performance in a hard-fought loss to Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza at Invicta FC 4. Cive makes her promotional debut after visa issues kept her out of Invicta FC 2.

Hyatt (4-2-0) built up a significant fan following in her home country with four straight stoppage wins in 2012. Her popularity and skills inside the cage earned her a spot on the Invicta FC 4 card earlier this month. Originally set to face Scottish striking sensation Joanne Calderwood, Hyatt was instead placed in the inaugural Invicta FC Strawweight Championship bout when Esparza’s original opponent, Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha, was forced to withdraw due to injury.

Despite having just one week to prepare for the title tilt, the underdog Hyatt lasted all five rounds against Esparza and nearly secured a last-second TKO win in the final stages of the fifth round. Hyatt’s spirited performance only expanded her rapidly-growing fanbase and she now looks to pick up her first Invicta FC victory as she returns to the promotion in April.

Cive (5-0-0) was set to make her Invicta FC debut in July, but a planned bout against Jewels Lightweight Queen Champion Ayaka Hamasaki was scrapped shortly before the event due to delays in processing Cive’s visa. The technical striker has finished all five of her professional opponents to date, including four knockout wins, and will drop down to 115 pounds for the first time when she faces Hyatt.

Much like her opponent, Cive has struggled to find steady fights in her home country and she hopes to make a big statement in her long-awaited North American debut. A win over Hyatt could elevate Cive to a short list of contenders for the Invicta FC title held by Esparza.

Invicta Fighting Championships 5 takes place on April 6th at a venue to be determined in Missouri and is headlined by an Invicta FC Atomweight Championship bout between champion Jessica Penne and Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson. The inaugural Invicta FC Flyweight Championship will also be up for grabs when Barb “Little Warrior” Honchak battles Vanessa Porto.

MMARising.com has confirmed that the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City is one of three possible options to house the event, but an official decision has not been made and negotiations are ongoing.
