Megumi Yabushita vs Kyoko Kimura Set For November 12thA women’s bout between MMA veteran Megumi Yabushita and fellow pro wrestler Kyoko Kimura has been added to Pancrase Impressive Tour 11 on November 12th in Tokyo, Japan. The bout was officially announced by the promotion today and will serve as Kimura’s mixed martial arts debut.

Yabushita will compete in a Pancrase ring for the first time in her 14-year MMA career when she faces Kimura, but she will bring a huge experience edge into the fight. Kimura has been involved with pro wrestling since her teens and will look for an upset victory in her first foray into MMA.

Yabushita (19-18-0) has faced a who’s who of top female fighters during her career and holds notable wins over Hitomi Akano, Roxanne Modafferi, Erin Toughill, Mayumi Aoki and Emi Fujino. She has been inconsistent at times, however, and has alternated between lengthy winning streaks and tough losing skids. Yabushita has posted just one win in her last four fights, but her losses have come against elite opposition in Shayna Baszler, Rin Nakai and former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman. Prior to her time in MMA and pro wrestling, Yabushita excelled in judo and is skilled in a wide array of throws.

Kimura (0-0-0) faces a fellow pro wrestling veteran for her mixed martial arts debut, but she lacks the striking and submission skills that Yabushita has honed in over a decade of competition. Kimura will trade in weapons from her pro wrestling “deathmatches” for a pair of Pancrase gloves next month, but an upset is not entirely out of the question and Yabushita has battled knee injuries in recent years.

Pancrase Impressive Tour 11 takes place on November 12th at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan. The bout between Yabushita and Kimura will be contested over two rounds in the bantamweight division.
