Jewels Announces Change To Upcoming Event ScheduleAll-female Japanese promotion Jewels has announced a significant change to its upcoming event schedule. After “12th Ring” was cancelled on March 11th following the massive earthquake near Japan, Jewels will move ahead with 13th Ring and 14th Ring on May 14th at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo.

Both events will be held on the same day and will serve as fundraisers for earthquake reconstruction and relief in the country. 13th Ring will begin at 12:30 P.M. and 14th Ring will follow in the evening at 6:00 P.M. The cards will feature MMA, shoot boxing, kickboxing and grappling matches.

Prior to the tragic earthquake and tsunami disasters last month, Jewels had planned to hold just one card, 13th Ring, in May. The promotion’s July 9th card at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, previously dubbed 14th Ring, has now been renamed 15th Ring in light of the all-day festivities planned for May 14th.

Jewels has put out an open call for professional and amateur female fighters for matches that will be contested under the following rules and round formats:

– Pro MMA: Two 5:00 rounds, no strikes to the head on the ground;
– Amateur MMA: One 4:00 round, shin guards and headgear worn, no strikes at all on the ground;

– Pro Shoot Boxing: Three 2:00 rounds, standard shoot boxing rules;
– Amateur Shoot Boxing: One 3:00 round, shin guards and headgear, 16 oz. gloves, limited attacks;

– Pro Kickboxing: Three 2:00 rounds, standard kickboxing rules;
– Amateur Kickboxing: Two 2:00 rounds, shin guards and headgear, 16 oz. gloves, no elbows;

– Grappling Matches: One 4:00 round, no gloves or strikes.

Matchups for both cards will be announced in the coming weeks. The all-day fundraiser will be held at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo, Japan.
