Shana Olsen vs Elaina Maxwell Agreed For Spring Brawl 2A second women’s bout is in the works for Crowbar MMA: “Spring Brawl 2” on April 29th in Fargo, North Dakota. Shana “Rock Solid” Olsen and fellow Strikeforce veteran Elaina “Beef” Maxwell have verbally agreed to square off in a 145-pound matchup on the card. Bout agreements are not yet signed.

Both fighters will look to rebound from recent setbacks, as Olsen suffered the first defeat of her career last October while Maxwell was submitted by Shayna Baszler in November. The bout joins a planned matchup between Barb “Little Warrior” Honchak and Nina Ansaroff on the April card.

Olsen (4-1-0) made her pro debut with a quick victory in May of 2009, but it wasn’t until seven months later that fans began to take notice of the Minnesotan’s skills. Next taking a big step up in competition, Olsen survived a tough first round and stopped HOOKnSHOOT Champion and EliteXC veteran Kaitlin Young with strikes in the second round at Ironman MMA 1. Olsen would go on to total wins over Mariah Johnson and Yoko Takahashi in 2010 before making her Strikeforce debut last October. There, Olsen suffered her first defeat when she was upset by Muay Thai standout Julia “The Jewel” Budd.

Maxwell (4-4-0) opened her career with a modest 2-3 record that included losses to Gina “Conviction” Carano and current Strikeforce title challenger Miesha “Takedown” Tate. The kickboxer took two years off from MMA before returning last July with a first-round stoppage of Liz Carreiro under the Freestyle Cage Fighting banner. The victory propelled Maxwell into a fight with Raging Wolf champ Alexis Davis one month later, but Maxwell missed weight for the 135-pound matchup. Though she defeated Davis, the fight was changed to a non-title bout. Maxwell lost to Shayna “The Queen of Spades” Baszler in November in a 140-pound title fight for The Cage Inc. and will now return to 145 pounds.

With both fighters looking to get back into the Strikeforce mix, a win is crucial as each aims to rebound from a loss. The matchup is not yet official, but bout agreements are expected to be signed soon.

Crowbar MMA: “Spring Brawl 2” takes place on April 29th at the Scheels Arena in Fargo, North Dakota.

  1. Strikforce may be stupid for not showing this fight. This match will be 10 X the match that cyborg vs finney was. And why? Just because of records? Records dont make matches styles do and grappler vs striker is not always good match either.

  2. Brother, you have the wrong promotion.
    It’s a damn good match.
Hopefully footage will appear of the fight.
