Invicta Fighting Championships 11 Live Play-By-Play & ResultsInvicta Fighting Championships held its 11th event tonight at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Invicta FC 11 was headlined by a featherweight championship bout between returning champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino and challenger Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet.

In the co-feature, Alexa Grasso battled Mizuki Inoue in a pivotal strawweight matchup. DeAnna “The Argentine Assassin” Bennett faced Norma Rueda Center at 115 and Irene Aldana “Robles” met Colleen “The Thoroughbred” Schneider at 135. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the card.

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino vs Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Herb Dean. Justino rocked Tweet with an early combination and floored her with a massive right hand. She dove in with more punches and hammerfists on the ground that bloodied Tweet’s nose. Tweet survived and returned to her feet, but Justino stunned her again with another hard one-two. Tweet wilted against the cage as Justino attacked with punches and referee Herb Dean stopped the brief fight.

Winner: Cris Cyborg by TKO (Punches) at 0:46 of round one. She improves to 13-1-0, 1 ND and remains the Invicta FC Featherweight Champion.

 

Alexa Grasso vs Mizuki Inoue

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Mike Beltran. Grasso connected with powerful leg kicks and overhand rights in the opening minute. Inoue replied with a combination, but Grasso nailed her with a spinning back kick to the neck and a lead left hook. Inoue moved forward with punches again and straight right hands were exchanged. Grasso got the better of the boxing and bloodied Inoue’s nose with a combination. Inoue answered with a nice right hand, but Grasso mixed things up nicely with jabs and leg kicks. Inoue briefly took her down and the round ended with both women landing strikes in the clinch. 10-9 Grasso.

Round 2:
Grasso landed a series of leg kicks early in round two and went high with a kick that grazed Inoue’s temple. The fighters clinched and Grasso landed knees, but Inoue punched her way free. Grasso continued to mix up her strikes well with kick-punch combos and she fired off another head kick. A four-punch flurry and another leg kick scored for Grasso, who reversed a takedown and locked on a reverse triangle choke. She tried for a kimura as well, but Inoue made it to the bell. 10-9 Grasso.

Round 3:
Inoue closed in with punches in the final round, but Grasso countered with left-right combos and followed with a leg kick. Inoue took her down and moved to the scarf hold position. She nearly mounted Grasso and hunted for an arm-triangle choke. Grasso tried to scramble free and Inoue wound up on top in mount. Grasso got back to side control and the fighters swept back and forth before returning to their feet. Inoue got Grasso down, but had to fight off an armbar and a guillotine choke. She scored another takedown and fought through upkicks to get to mount. 10-9 Inoue.

Judge Derek Cleary: 29-28 Grasso. Judge Jackie Denkin: 30-26 Grasso. Judge Ron McCarthy: 29-28 Grasso.

Winner: Alexa Grasso by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. She improves to 7-0-0.

 

DeAnna “The Argentine Assassin” Bennett vs Norma Rueda Center

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Herb Dean. Center countered early kicks from Bennett with a flurry of punches, but Bennett clinched and backed her up against the cage. Bennett worked for a takedown and the fighters separated after exchanging elbows over the top. Bennett staggered Center with a right cross and clinched again. Center recovered and circled away. Straight punches landed for both women and Bennett rushed forward with a lengthy flurry. Center answered with knees, but Bennett pressed forward with front kicks at the bell. 10-9 Bennett.

Round 2:
Cautious kicks were exchanged in the opening 90 seconds of round two and Bennett landed a stiff jab. She followed with more kicks and held Center against the cage. Bennett threw knees to the body and the fighters separated. Bennett caught a kick and pressed Center against the fence once again. Center escaped from her grasp and landed a quick combination. Bennett finished the round with knees to the midsection in the clinch. Close round. 10-9 Bennett.

Round 3:
The final round began with an exchange of leg kicks and Center lunged in with a one-two. Bennett clinched and Center landed knees. The fighters traded more knees in close and Bennett followed with kicks. Center began to taunt and Bennett responded with two right hands. She clinched once more, but Center punched free. She flurried late in the round and landed two knees before the final bell. Another close round. 10-9 Center, barely.

Irene Aldana “Robles” vs Colleen “The Thoroughbred” Schneider

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Mike Beltran. Aldana took advantage of an early stumble from Schneider by swarming on her with punches. Schneider turned her back to Aldana, who jumped into a standing rear-naked choke. She pulled Schneider down to the mat and tightened the choke, which forced Schneider to submit.

Winner: Irene Aldana by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 1:05 of round one. She improves to 5-1-0.

 

Jamie Moyle vs J.J. Aldrich

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Herb Dean. Round one began with an exchange of straight punches and body kicks, and Moyle mounted Aldrich after knocking her down with a a right hand. She quickly took Aldrich’s back and worked for a rear-naked choke. Aldrich initially defended and broke Moyle’s grip, but Moyle kept at it until she secured the choke again. Aldrich could not escape and was soon rendered unconscious.

Winner: Jamie Moyle by Technical Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 2:20 of round one. She improves to 2-0-0.

 

Amy “The Resurrection” Cadwell Montenegro vs Brianna “Tha Bull” VanBuren

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Mike Bell. The fight began with an exchange of kicks and VanBuren backed Montenegro up with a front kick. Both women landed one-twos and VanBuren kicked to the body. Montenegro clinched with her against the cage, but VanBuren threw her to the mat. Montenegro stood and VanBuren took her back down again. Montenegro rose to her feet and tried unsuccessfully for a takedown. She pulled guard with a guillotine choke late in the round, but VanBuren escaped. 10-9 VanBuren.

Round 2:
VanBuren landed a nice right hand early in round two and followed with another right hook that cut Montenegro near the left eye. Montenegro stayed busy with knees and tried for a takedown. She threw more knees and VanBuren countered with elbows. She created space and landed punches over the top, but Montenegro fired back with knees to the body. VanBuren reversed a takedown attempt into top position and she wound up in Montenegro’s guard. In the final seconds, VanBuren mounted Montenegro and worked for an armbar before time expired. 10-9 VanBuren.

Round 3:
Big knees were exchanged in round three and VanBuren dragged Montenegro to the mat by jumping on her back. She worked for a kimura and used it to sweep, but Montenegro scrambled and rained down elbows from the top. The fighters stood and Montenegro threw knees to the body. She landed two hard elbows over the top and fought off a fireman’s carry takedown attempt. VanBuren broke away and landed a front kick, but Montenegro closed in again and kept the pressure on with elbows and knees until the bell. 10-9 Montenegro.

Christine “Knuckles” Stanley vs “Lethal” Laura Salazar

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Mike Beltran. Stanley opened the fight with a spinning hook kick and a series of hard right hands that dropped Salazar. She recovered on the mat and returned to her feet, then took Stanley down against the cage. Stanley returned to her feet and drilled Salazar with two big knees. Salazar shot in for a takedown and Stanley took her back. She landed punches and elbows from back control. Salazar defended with her hand, but Stanley continued to throw punches until the fight was stopped.

Winner: Christine Stanley by TKO (Punches) at 2:59 of round one. She improves to 4-1-0.

 

Aspen Ladd vs Ana Carolina Vidal

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Mike Bell. Vidal threw Ladd to the mat right away and worked from the top in side control. She transitioned to Ladd’s back, but lost the position and wound up on the bottom. Ladd struck from the top until the referee stood the fighters up. Vidal took Ladd back down and quickly moved from back control to an armbar. Ladd escaped and both women attempted heel hooks.

Ladd landed hard shots from the top that opened a cut beside Vidal’s left eye. More punches scored for Ladd and she mounted Vidal soon after. Ladd postured up with punches and elbows as Vidal rolled to her side and referee Mike Bell stopped the fight.

Winner: Aspen Ladd by TKO (Punches & Elbows) at 4:21 of round one. She improves to 1-0-0.
