On Saturday night, Amber “The Apex Predator” Stautzenberger picked up the biggest win of her career at Xtreme Knockout 20 in Arlington, Texas. Stautzenberger took a commanding Unanimous Decision win over veteran contender Lacey “The Ladie” Schuckman in a 119-pound catchweight bout.

At MMA Super Heroes 2 in São Paulo, Brazil, Kalindra Faria won another championship title by stopping Hellen Bastos. On the same card, Carina “Barbie” Damm earned a quick TKO win. At Deep: “Cage Impact 2013” in Tokyo, Japan, Shizuka Sugiyama and Ji Yun Kim fought to a Majority Draw.

Stautzenberger (4-1-0) reversed a takedown from Schuckman (9-7-0) in the opening round and she spent much of the first five minutes striking from top position. Schuckman defended well from the bottom, but Stautzenberger landed some solid elbows to take an early lead on the scorecards. Both fighters secured takedowns later in the fight, but it was Stautzenberger’s knees in the clinch that proved to be the difference maker and she landed numerous strikes in close.

After three rounds, the judges awarded Stautzenberger with a well-deserved Unanimous Decision victory. The 26-year-old has won four straight fights since dropping a narrow decision in her professional debut and she is one of the most promising strawweight prospects in North America today.

Earlier on the Xtreme Knockout 20 card, Sabrina Garcia (2-0-0) kept her perfect record intact with a Unanimous Decision win over former pro boxer Alice Smith Yauger (0-1-0), who was making her MMA debut. Garcia has put on impressive performances in both of her bantamweight bouts for Xtreme Knockout this year.

In the finals of the MMA Super Heroes women’s flyweight title tournament, Faria (12-3-1) had little trouble in dispatching of replacement opponent Bastos (1-1-0) in a one-sided affair. Faria countered early takedowns from Bastos with a series of hard elbow strikes and a guillotine choke attempt. Bastos maintained top position until the bell, but Faria prevented her from landing anything damaging.

At the beginning of round two, Faria caught a kick and took Bastos down. She landed elbows from the top that opened a bad cut beside Bastos’s left eye. The fight was allowed to continue and Faria tried to drag Bastos to the mat with a rear-naked choke. Bastos wound up on top, but Faria scrambled up and landed a big knee that dropped her opponent. She followed up with punches for the TKO win at the 4:03 mark of round two.

Saturday’s victory earned Faria the inaugural MMA Super Heroes Women’s Flyweight Championship. She previously captured the Pink Fight 121-pound title this past year. After a shaky start to her career, Faria has now won eight straight bouts.

Also on the MMA Super Heroes 2 card, Damm (20-10-0), whom Faria submitted in a July rematch, rebounded with a quick and one-sided win over an outmatched Roberta “Marreta” Pereira da Silva Gomes (0-2-0). Damm took Gomes’s back right away and dragged her down, then transitioned from side control to mount. From there, Damm dropped punches until the referee intervened to stop the fight just 58 seconds into the opening round.

On Sunday’s Deep: “Cage Impact 2013” card, Sugiyama (10-3-1) and Kim (0-0-1) battled to a Majority Draw after two surprisingly competitive rounds. Sugiyama got off to a quick start with takedowns and ground and pound in round one, and she took advantage of the fight’s unique rule set by landing elbows from the top. Kim battled back to her feet, but Sugiyama landed more strikes in the clinch.

The second round was a completely different story and Sugiyama began to slow way down. Kim countered a takedown attempt with a guillotine choke and she landed some solid knees to the body when the fighters clinched later in the round. A fatigued Sugiyama was unable to contend with Kim’s clinch work and Kim took the round on two judges’ scorecards as a result. The bout was ruled a Majority Draw, which was a moral victory in itself for Kim, who entered the bout as a massive underdog.

Rounding out the action this past weekend, fast-rising prospect Hérica Tibúrcio (7-2-0) scored her sixth submission win and seventh victory overall on Saturday night at Circuito Talent de MMA 5: “Etapa Campinas 2013” in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil. Tibúrcio forced Chayen Aline Gaspar (1-1-0) to tap out to an armbar at the 1:57 mark of round one.

In other female fights on the Circuito Talent de MMA 5 card, Camila “Camilinha Pitbull” Lima (8-4-0) rebounded from her shocking knockout loss in July by submitting 18-year-old Bianca Reis (1-1-0) with an arm-triangle choke at the 4:36 mark of round two. Vanessa Melo (2-2-0) finished Suelen Pereira (1-2-0) with a rear-naked choke at the 3:37 mark of round one.
