Jordan Nicole Gaza Submits Kathina Catron At XFN 11: Road To GloryPopular prospect Jordan Nicole “Ninja Princess” Gaza earned the first win of her professional MMA career on Friday night at XFL’s Xtreme Fight Night 11: “Road To Glory” in Catoosa, Oklahoma. Gaza submitted the previously unbeaten Kathina “Kill Switch” Catron with a rear-naked choke in round two.

Friday’s victory was a big one for Gaza, who dropped her professional debut via a razor-thin Split Decision against “12 Gauge” Paige VanZant in June. The 20-year-old Texas native hopes to maintain an active fighting schedule in 2013 and she already has two more bouts lined up in the coming months.

Gaza (1-1-0) countered an early flurry of punches from Catron (2-1-0) by elevating her opponent and slamming Catron down to the mat. She moved to side control and worked for an arm-triangle choke, but Catron defended well. Gaza moved to mount and landed some hard punches that forced Catron to give up her back and Gaza worked for a rear-naked choke until time expired.

Round two began with an exchange of punches and Gaza was able to close the distance to secure a trip takedown near the ropes. She again looked for an arm-triangle choke from the top and Catron once again defended. Catron turned and gave up her back, and Gaza took advantage by locking on another rear-naked choke. This time, Catron could not escape and she was forced to tap out.

Gaza, a former Tuff-N-Uff champion who went 4-3 as an amateur, had suffered defeats in each of her past two fights leading into the bout with Catron, but she now finds herself back on track in a big way after scoring arguably the most impressive victory of her young career. Despite the loss, Catron is still expected to compete on the upcoming Invicta FC 5 card in April.

Winner: Jordan Nicole Gaza by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 1:34 of round two. She improves to 1-1-0.
