Felice Herrig Defeats Patricia Vidonic In Bellator 84 RematchFelice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig put on a strong performance in victory tonight at Bellator Fighting Championships 84 in Hammond, Indiana. Herrig earned another dominant Unanimous Decision win over strawweight rival “Little” Patricia Vidonic in a rematch from the pair’s first fight at XFC 17 in April.

Herrig was in complete control of the bout with Vidonic from start to finish and she once again prevented Vidonic from mounting much of any offence at all. With her crisp punching combinations and positional control on the ground, Herrig cruised to a clear-cut decision win on all three scorecards.

Herrig (8-4-0) opened the fight with leg kicks and fought off Vidonic’s (7-4-0) attempts to take the fight to the ground. Both fighters landed knees in close and Herrig continued to score with punches. Vidonic walked forward and ate counterpunches and another knee. She jumped guard for a guillotine, but Herrig escaped and landed elbows. She postured up with a big right hand and followed with stiff jabs after Vidonic got back to her feet. Herrig jumped into a standing rear-naked choke attempt before the bell.

In the second round, Herrig took Vidonic back down and landed more strikes from the top. Vidonic tried for a triangle choke, but Herrig easily escaped and she landed leg kicks and an uppercut on the feet. Vidonic walked into numerous punches and offered no defence, but she managed to clinch. The fighters were separated soon after and Vidonic walked into more punches to secure another clinch. Herrig took her down and attempted a guillotine choke before the bell.

Already up two rounds to none, Herrig remained effective with her strikes in round three and she landed a solid combination and a front kick early on. Herrig took Vidonic down on two occasions and remained on top after a quick scramble. Vidonic attempted an armbar and countered Herrig’s move to mount by trapping her in a heel hook. She used it to sweep and wound up in Herrig’s guard, but Herrig tied her up from the bottom. The fighters were stood up and Herrig closed out the fight with a takedown and more punches and elbows.

Herrig’s dominant performance left no doubt in the judges’ minds and she walked away with her second lopsided victory of the year over Vidonic. Herrig has won five of her past six fights, with the lone defeat coming against upcoming Invicta FC title challenger Carla Esparza.

Winner: Felice Herrig by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. She improves to 8-4-0.

  1. Great to see Felice fight live again in the Chicagoland area. She is always getting better and hope to see her finish more opponents which she did put on a last second ground and pound at the end of round three. Keep up the great work Felice!
