Legend Fighting Championship 6 took place on Sunday night at the City of Dreams Grand Hyatt Ballroom in Cotai, Macau. The event was headlined by an LFC Lightweight Championship bout pitting defending champion Adrian “The Hunter” Pang against Sengoku veteran Jadamba Narantungalag.
In other action on Sunday’s card, New Zealand’s Sam “Striker” Brown faced China’s Wenbo Liu in a light heavyweight battle, while Cage Force veteran Koji Ando took on unbeaten Chinese prospect Guan Wang in the lightweight division. MMARising.com has play-by-play and results for Legend FC 6.
LFC Lightweight Championship
Jadamba Narantungalag vs Adrian “The Hunter” Pang
Round 1:
Narantungalag landed a leg kick to open the fight, but Pang caught it and tried for a takedown. He got Narantungalag down on the second try, but Narantungalag got back to his feet and took Pang down. Pang tried for a heel hook and Narantungalag escaped. Narantungalag landed knees from a front headlock position, then slammed Pang down after the fighters briefly stood.
Narantungalag punched from the top as Pang tried to set up an armbar from his back. Narantungalag escaped and landed two more punches, but Pang attempted a second armbar. Narantungalag struck from half-guard until the referee stood the fighters up. Narantungalag attempted a spinning heel kick, but Pang caught it and took him down. Close round. 10-9 Narantungalag.
Round 2:
Narantungalag connected with looping hooks in round two, but Pang tagged him with a nice counter combination and clinched against the ropes. Narantungalag reversed and landed a knee, then took Pang down and landed in mount. Pang countered with a heel hook and used it to sweep. He worked from Narantungalag’s guard, but Narantungalag reversed and landed punches from mount. Pang once again scrambled into a heel hook and a kneebar, but Narantungalag managed to spin and escape.
The fighters stood and Pang took Narantungalag down. Narantungalag scrambled and took Pang’s back, then blasted him with punches. Pang rolled to his back and Narantungalag landed more strikes. Pang got to his knees and Narantungalag threw knee strikes to the head and shoulders. The fighters were stood up and Narantungalag landed a jumping front kick to the face. Pang took him down and struck from the top. He stood and rained down punches in the final seconds. 10-9 Narantungalag.
Round 3:
Narantungalag landed a hard leg kick and a big right hand in the final round. He followed with two left hooks that appeared to rock Pang, but Pang recovered and scored a takedown. Pang landed punches and elbows from the top and opened a cut beside Narantungalag’s left eye. Narantungalag began to bleed rather heavily from the cut and time was called for the doctor to check on it. Action resumed on the ground and Pang tried for a can opener submission.
Pang landed more short elbows, but Narantungalag used a front headlock to flip Pang over and the fighters stood. Pang used a hip toss to get Narantungalag down and he punched from Narantungalag’s guard until the fighters were stood up. Narantungalag landed an uppercut and Pang dropped for a leglock. Narantungalag punished him with punches from mount, then switched to elbows. He closed out the back-and-forth round with more strikes. Very close. 10-9 Narantungalag.
Winner: Jadamba Narantungalag by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 7-2-0 and becomes the new LFC Lightweight Champion.
Sam “Striker” Brown vs Wenbo Liu
Round 1:
Brown landed an uppercut and a leg kick to begin the fight and followed with more leg kicks as the round progressed. Liu landed a right hand and jabbed, but Brown continued to score with leg kicks. Brown landed a combination and Liu responded with one of his own. Brown kicked at Liu’s leg, but Liu snapped his head back with a one-two and tried for a takedown. He could not get it, but punched at Brown’s ribs and thigh until the bell. Close round. 10-9 Liu.
Round 2:
Brown scored with more leg kicks and a combination in round two, but Liu countered nicely with a flurry of his own. Brown threw looping punches and landed a right hook. Time was called after Liu was kicked in the groin, but action resumed and both fighters landed punches. Brown got the better of the exchange and he followed with a one-two and a leg kick.
The fighters traded punches and both landed. Brown backed Liu up with a body kick and landed another one soon after. Brown jabbed and landed a combination, but Liu finally began to throw some kicks of his own. The round ended with another exchange of punches, with both fighters landing before the bell. 10-9 Brown.
Round 3:
The final round began with an exchange of huge punches and both fighters connected. Liu landed a one-two and briefly held onto a front headlock. Brown freed himself, but Liu landed two more punches. Brown scored a takedown and Liu tried for a Kimura from his back. Brown escaped and landed punches briefly until time was called to fix Liu’s glove.
After the restart, Brown punched from Liu’s guard and looked to be setting up a Brabo Choke, but the referee stood the fighters up. Brown punched his way into a clinch and took Liu down, then landed a big knee. The fighters were stood up again and Brown scored another takedown. He took Liu’s back as Liu stood up and scooped him to the mat again. Brown landed an elbow as the fight ended. 10-9 Brown.
Winner: Sam Brown by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 13-5-2.
Guan “The Dongbei Tiger” Wang vs Koji Ando
Round 1:
Wang landed punches and leg kicks early in the first round, but Ando took him down against the ropes. Ando struck from the top until the referee brought the fight back to the feet. Both fighters landed solid punches and Wang threw kicks to the upper body. Wang kept his distance and continued to land quick strikes. He threw a looping right hand and looked for a takedown, but Ando stuffed it and countered with a combination. Wang landed a kick at the bell. 10-9 Wang.
Round 2:
Both fighters landed power punches early in the second round and Wang continued to mix in kicks to the legs and upper body. Ando took him down and moved to half-guard. Ando scored with hard punches to the body, then postured up and landed more to Wang’s face. Ando stood and Wang upkicked. He was warned for one illegal kick, but quickly battled back to his feet after the restart.
Wang landed body kicks and a right hand, but Ando stuffed a takedown attempt and punished him with a knee. Wang threw more kicks and Ando cracked him with a left cross and a one-two. Lead right hands also landed for Ando, but Wang countered nicely with two rights of his own. Ando connected with two left crosses and Wang answered with a body kick. 10-9 Ando.
Round 3:
Ando took Wang down to open the final round, but Wang was effective with upkicks after Ando stood up. Ando returned to Wang’s guard and avoided a triangle choke attempt. The fighters were repositioned in the centre of the ring and Ando punched from the top while trying to set up a guillotine choke. Ando landed more punches until the fighters were stood up.
On the feet, Wang landed a series of kicks and Ando replied with punches and a takedown. Wang tried for a guillotine of his own on the ground, but Ando easily evaded and moved to half-guard. He began to tee off with punches, but Wang struck back from the bottom. Ando continued to strike until the final bell. Good fight. 10-9 Ando.
Winner: Wang Guan by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 7-0-1.
Remaining Results:
Rob Hill defeated Un Sik “Tornado” Song by TKO (Punches) at 3:18 of round one. Hill took advantage of Song’s carelessness as he rushed forward with punches and dropped Song with a quick counter one-two. Song covered up as Hill landed two more punches and the fight was waved off. Song protested the stoppage, but he turtled up after Hill’s initial punches.
Rodney “Hot Rod” MacSwain defeated Yong Jae Lee by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 29-27, 29-27) after three rounds. Lee was deducted a point in the first round for knees to the groin, but it made little difference as MacSwain controlled enough of the clinch-heavy bout to take a clear-cut, if uninspiring decision.
Yusuke “Bancho” Kawanago defeated Chengjie Wu by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. After an action-packed, back-and-forth opening round, Kawanago took over in round two and bloodied Wu with strikes on the ground. Kawanago opened more cuts on Wu’s face and dominated the fight on the ground in the final stanza to take a well-earned decision.
Hoon Kim defeated Robert Whittaker by Submission (Triangle Choke) at 3:01 of round one. The bout was contested almost entirely on the ground, with both fighters taking turns working for submissions from the bottom. After an exchange of armbar attempts midway through the opening round, Kim trapped Whittaker in a triangle and Whittaker was forced to submit.
Michael “Mick” Mortimer defeated Ereneo “Toro” Galindez by Submission (Armbar) in round one. Mortimer took the fight to the mat early on and a scramble ensued on the ground. The fighters stood and Mortimer slammed Galindez down. Mortimer landed a series of knees before transitioning to mount, where he secured an armbar for the finish.
Danaa Batgerel defeated Vincent Siu by TKO (Punches) in round one. Batgerel dropped Siu in an early exchange and settled into his guard, but Siu swept and the referee stood the fighters up. Siu slipped while throwing a kick and Batgerel took advantage by moving straight into mount, where he flurried with punches until the fight was stopped.
