Talented kickboxer Elaina “Beef” Maxwell picked up her second consecutive victory on Saturday night with a third-round stoppage of Angela Samaro at King of the Cage: “Shockwave” in Oroville, California. Maxwell managed to avoid Samaro’s submissions and finished the fight with a barrage of elbows.
In other action, “Slick” Sally Krumdiack successfully defended her Freestyle Cage Fighting 125-pound women’s title at FCF 48 in Shawnee, Oklahoma with a second-round armbar submission of Sarah Ward-Maloy. The bout was Krumdiack’s first since falling to UK standout Rosi Sexton in November.
Maxwell (6-4-0) and Samaro (3-2-0) exchanged strikes for much of the first round of their catchweight contest at 140 pounds, as both fighters landed knees and targeted the body with strikes in clinches near the cage. Maxwell eventually scored a takedown and fought out of an armbar with hammerfists and elbows before the bell.
The second round opened with an exchange of kicks before Maxwell scored a takedown and worked for a keylock while throwing elbows. The fighters stood and Maxwell took Samaro back down, where she struck from the top until Samaro rolled for a kneebar. Referee Cecil Peoples called for a standup and Maxwell dropped Samaro with a left hook in the final seconds.
Maxwell floored Samaro again in the final round and dove in with strikes from the top. After a salvo of elbows from Samaro’s half-guard, the fight was finally waved off, giving Maxwell a convincing win.

Despite her opponent’s improved striking, Krumdiack (9-4-0) was able to use her superior ground skills and experience to submit Ward-Maloy (2-2-0) in the second round of their FCF title fight. Ward-Maloy got the better of the exchanges on the feet, but Krumdiack took the fight to the ground and worked for submissions until she locked on a fight-ending armbar just past the midway point of round two.
The title fight was Krumdiack’s second appearance in the promotion, as she initially captured the title by defeating Nicdali “The Night Queen” Rivera-Calanoc at FCF 36 in October 2009. She has now won two of her last three fights, with the lone setback coming against Sexton in their Cage Warriors 39 headliner last year.
Winner: Sally Krumdiack by Submission (Armbar) at 2:51 of round two. She improves to 9-4-0 and remains the FCF Women’s Super Flyweight Champion.
