Holly Holm vs Érica Paes Announced For Legacy FC 24Former top-ranked boxing champion Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm looks for her third MMA win of 2013 when she returns to the cage at Legacy Fighting Championship 24 on October 11th in Dallas, Texas. Holm is set to face Brazilian veteran Érica Paes in a main card bantamweight bout.

Paes revealed her participation in the fight on Thursday and the promotion confirmed the matchup today. Holm has knocked out all four of her MMA opponents to date and is one of the world’s top female strikers. Paes is the only woman to have defeated Invicta FC champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino.

Holm (4-0-0) made a full-time transition to MMA earlier this year following a storied career in boxing that included close to two dozen title victories and defences. In July, she made her Legacy FC debut and scored a highlight-reel head-kick knockout win over CFA women’s tournament veteran Allanna “Hands of Stone” Jones. The win apparently intimidated potential opponents and Legacy officials stated today that close to 40 women had turned down an opportunity to face Holm next month.

Paes (2-2-0) debuted in MMA in May 2005 with a submission victory over Justino, who has since gone on to become one of the sport’s most feared female fighters. After suffering a loss in her second fight, Paes stepped away from MMA and was thought to have retired. In April, following a hiatus of more than seven years, Paes returned to action and scored a first-round submission victory. Her most recent fight ended in defeat, however, as she was outpointed by unbeaten flyweight Bethe “Pitbull” Correia.

Legacy Fighting Championship 24 takes place on October 11th at Allen Event Center in Dallas, Texas.
