Michele “Diablita” Gutierrez has received a new opponent for her upcoming flyweight bout at Dakota Fighting Championships 16: “Fall Brawl 2013” on August 23rd in Fargo, North Dakota. Gutierrez now meets Tyra Parker, who steps in to replace Jordan Nicole “Ninja Princess” Gaza on the card.
Gaza was forced to withdraw from the event earlier this week as a result of a medical suspension handed down by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation following a second-round TKO loss in an August 3rd boxing match. The Gutierrez-Parker bout was officially signed on Wednesday.
Gutierrez (3-3-0) and Parker (2-3-0) both look to rebound from defeats in their most recent bouts this past year. Gutierrez has not fought since she suffered a Unanimous Decision loss to Sarah “KO Kid” Maloy at Invicta FC 1. The Las Vegas native won all three of her bouts in 2010. Parker, meanwhile, had her two-fight winning streak halted by Nina “The Strina” Ansaroff in December. Both of her professional victories have come by way of armbar submission inside the first minute.

It’s disappointing that Gaza is off the card, but this hardly surprised me. She has demonstrated consistently unprofessional behavior since she turned professional. Scheduling to fights so close together was irresponsible and unfair to the promoters, who should think twice before booking her in the future.
