Valérie Létourneau vs Cassie Crisano Targeted For October 5French-Canadian striker Valérie “Trouble” Létourneau makes her return to action on October 5th at Québec Mixed Martial Arts League 1 in Québec City, Québec. Létourneau will face former amateur standout Cassie Crisano in a bantamweight bout on the newly-formed promotion’s inaugural card.

MMARising.com confirmed plans for the featured fight with sources close to the negotiations on Friday. Létourneau has not fought since she suffered a razor-thin loss to current Invicta FC contender Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha in April 2012. Crisano drops down to 135 in search of her first pro win.

Létourneau (4-3-0) has long been one of Canada’s top female mixed martial artists, but injuries and fight cancellations have limited her competitive schedule in recent years. Létourneau rebounded from a close decision loss to Alexis “Ally-Gator” Davis in late 2007 by racking up three stoppage wins leading into the bout with Gadelha. Létourneau came on strong as the fight progressed, but it was not quite enough to steal the victory on the scorecards. She looks to get back on track when she returns in October.

Crisano (0-1-0) gives up an experience edge to her opponent, but the former featherweight has kept up an active fighting schedule since debuting in December 2010. After her first amateur bout was ruled a No Contest, Crisano went on to win three of her next four fights. She capped off her amateur career with a pair of decision victories and turned pro in mid-March, but dropped a Unanimous Decision to Andria Wawro Caplan. Feeling that bantamweight would be a more suitable weight class, Crisano now makes the move down and faces her toughest opponent to date.

Québec Mixed Martial Arts League 1 (Ligue d’Arts Martiaux Mixtes du Québec 1) takes place on October 5th at Pavillon de la Jeunesse in Québec City, Québec, Canada.
