UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez retained his title in quick and dominant fashion on May 25th at UFC 160: “Velasquez vs Silva 2” in Las Vegas, Nevada. Velasquez earned his second first-round stoppage victory over Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and remains atop the heavyweight rankings.
On the same UFC 160 card, T.J. Grant stopped former title contender Gray “The Bully” Maynard to earn a spot in the lightweight top five. In women’s action, South Korean standout Seo Hee Ham enters the top three at 105 pounds after capturing the Jewels Featherweight Queen Championship.
Julia Budd hasn’t beaten any top ten opponents. Cyborg (who had hurt her knee prior to the fight) made short work of Fiona Muxlow and is behind her… I don’t get it…
And, whereas I love Marloes, she’s 2-1 in her last three fights in the 145 lbs. division, her one loss at the hands of Cyborg.
I could be okay with Marloes being # 1, and Cyborg being #2, although both haven’t fought much the past three years in the division… Cyborg had that steroids incident, but she passed all other times…
Let’s wait and see… Cyborg vs Marloes is a fight I hate seeing, as I love Marloes, and I don’t see her winning here.
Julia defeated Germaine, and Germaine subsequently defeated Hiroko. At the same time, some other fighters near the top either lost or left the division. And now Germaine has dropped back down to 135, so it has shifted again. After July, things should have sorted themselves out. It’s a complicated division, for sure.
