Mio Tsumura vs Momi Added To Shoot Boxing 2013: Act 1JKS48 Women’s Minimumweight Champion Mio Tsumura puts her unbeaten shoot boxing record on the line against J-Girls Mini Flyweight Champion Momi at Shoot Boxing 2013: Act.1 on February 22nd in Tokyo, Japan. The featured 48-kilogram matchup was officially added to the card today.

Competing on the same card as mentor Rena Kubota, Tsumura captured the JKS48 high school girls’ title on August 25th. The 17-year-old prodigy has won all seven of her shoot boxing matches. Momi won the J-Girls title in November and she brings a wealth of striking experience into the fight.

Tsumura (7-0-0 SB) began her shoot boxing career under the guidance of three-time Girls S-Cup champ Kubota in 2011 and won each of her first four fights. This past April, she entered the eight-woman JKS48 tournament to crown the first Shoot Boxing 48kg high school girls’ champion. She earned a lopsided Unanimous Decision victory over Yuuki Kira in the quarterfinal round and went on to defeat Yusa Tachi and Akari “Eneos” Nakamura in one night to win the title in August. She now faces off against arguably her toughest opponent to date.

Momi (16-7-5 KB) is a veteran of the J-Girls kickboxing promotion and has been competing for more than six years. In September, she entered the J-Girls mini flyweight tournament to crown a new champion and defeated fellow veteran Miyako “Smile” Mitsuhori in the semi-finals. Momi then took a five-round Unanimous Decision win over Miho at J-Girls 2012: “Platinum’s In The Ring Final” on November 18th to become J-Girls Mini Flyweight Champion at 105 pounds. She makes the transition to shoot boxing rules for the bout with Tsumura later this month.

Shoot Boxing 2013: Act.1 takes place on February 22nd at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Former Shoot Boxing Japan Women’s Flyweight Champion Ai Takahashi is also expected to be in action on the card against an opponent to be announced.
