Laura Marcusse vs Cassie Robb Added To Invicta FC 4 PrelimsAn atomweight bout between amateur champs Laura Marcusse and Cassie Robb has been added to Invicta Fighting Championships 4, which takes place on January 5th in Kansas City, Kansas. MMARising.com confirmed plans for the matchup with sources close to the negotiations this week.

Both fighters will be making their professional debuts in next month’s fight after capturing amateur titles this year. Marcusse defeated Nadia Nixon for The Blue Corner’s atomweight title in March, while Robb submitted Liliana Orozco for the Kick Down MMA 110-pound women’s title in October.

Marcusse (4-1-0 amateur) will have the hometown crowd on her side when she makes her Invicta FC debut in four weeks. The Kansas City, Missouri native has a background in karate and jiu-jitsu and has secured submission finishes in three of her four wins. After making two successful appearances for the well-regarded Titan Fighting Championship promotion in 2011, Marcusse capped off her amateur career by earning a Unanimous Decision victory over Nixon to claim her first title belt. She now returns to the familiar Titan FC home of Memorial Hall to make her pro debut under the Invicta FC banner.

Robb (3-2-1 amateur) rebounded from a loss in her amateur debut with submission victories in each of her next two fights. She next competed on the inaugural Women’s Fighting Championship card in her hometown of Casper, Wyoming, but suffered the first TKO loss of her career when she was unable to continue after the second round. Robb returned to the cage in August for a rematch with past opponent Ali Kistler and the fighters fought to a Majority Draw after three competitive rounds. On October 19th, Robb got back to her winning ways by submitting Orozco with a first-round rear-naked choke. She has gone the distance just one time in her six-fight career.

The addition of the Marcusse-Robb bout brings the total number of fights on the Invicta FC 4 card to 13. Two more atomweight bouts, pitting Stephanie “Macaquinha” Frausto against “Sassy” Cassie Rodish and “Lightning” Liz McCarthy against Jodie Esquibel, are also slated for the all-female card.

Invicta Fighting Championships 4 takes place on January 5, 2013 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. The event is headlined by the inaugural Invicta FC Strawweight Championship bout between Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza and Claudia “Claudinha” Gadelha.
