Joanne Calderwood Set To Face Bec Hyatt At Invicta FC 4Unbeaten Scottish striker Joanne Calderwood will look for her second win under the Invicta FC banner when she takes on popular Australian prospect Bec “Rowdy” Hyatt at Invicta Fighting Championships 4. MMARising.com confirmed plans for the 115-pound bout with the promotion today.

Calderwood earned Knockout of the Night honours in her promotional debut this past month at Invicta FC 3 and is currently one of the fastest-rising new stars in the strawweight division. Hyatt is riding a four-fight winning streak and most recently picked up a 37-second TKO victory just two weeks ago.

Calderwood (4-0-0) is one of MMA’s most decorated female strikers. The multi-time champion holds a 19-2 record in Muay Thai and has thus far impressed in each of her four MMA bouts. After dominating Lena “Hunter” Ovchynnikova in her second fight, Calderwood returned home to Scotland and scored a second-round TKO win. She debuted for Invicta FC against highly-touted prospect Ashley “Smashley” Cummins this past month and broke three bones below Cummins’s eye with the first punch of the fight. A knee to the body eventually put Cummins down for good and Calderwood walked away with an extra $1000 for Knockout of the Night. She plans to pick up another bonus by defeating Hyatt in January.

Hyatt (4-1-0) had to bounce back from adversity after suffering a vicious head-kick knockout loss to Rhiannon “The Tornado” Thompson in her pro debut. She has done so in impressive fashion with wins in each of her past four fights since then. After earning submission victories in her first two fights this year, Hyatt outpointed Rachel Sheridan en route to a well-earned Majority Decision win in July. She endured a number of last-minute opponent changes for her most recent fight this past month and was matched up against the debuting Christina Nicole Tatnell at Nitro 7. Hyatt dispatched of Tatnell with punches in a mere 37 seconds and is arguably the most popular female fighter in her home country of Australia.

The Calderwood-Hyatt matchup will likely serve as one of a series of contender’s bouts next year as Invicta FC continues to build up its strawweight division. The Invicta Fighting Championships 4 card is expected to be headlined by the inaugural Invicta FC Strawweight Championship bout between Carla “Cookie Monster” Esparza and undefeated Jewels champion Ayaka Hamasaki.

Invicta FC 4 takes place at a venue to be determined in Kansas City, Missouri. An exact date for the event has not yet been formally announced.
