Unbeaten prospect Darla “Train Wreck” Harris returns to the cage to face Diana “Dynamite” Rael at Made For War 1 on October 13th in Castle Rock, Colorado. MMARising.com confirmed plans for the bout with the promotion this week. Harris and Rael are expected to face off at 105 pounds.
Harris has posted back-to-back wins this year and most recently decisioned Stephanie “The Scrapper” Skinner at Women’s Fighting Championship 1 in May. Rael looks to get back on track after suffering a first-round submission loss to Stephanie “Macaquinha” Frausto in the WFC 1 main event.
Harris (3-0-0) made an instant name for herself in her October pro debut when she scored an upset victory over veteran opponent and one-time training partner Jennifer Moran. The 21-year-old knocked out Lisa Jeanson in March and took the May bout with Skinner on very short notice. In a competitive battle that was contested primarily on the ground, Harris avoided Skinner’s submission attempts and landed some solid strikes from the top to take the decision victory on all three scorecards. She now faces one of her toughest opponents to date and could crack the top ten at 105 pounds with a win in October.
Rael (3-3-0) began her pro career with victories in three of her first four fights, including an impressive decision win over the previously unbeaten Angelica Chavez one year ago. She remains in search of her first victory of 2012, however, after submission setbacks against Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson in January and Frausto in May. Rael had success early on with knees and punching combinations, but Frausto sprawled out of a takedown and landed punches to set up a fight-ending armbar that forced Rael to submit. Despite the losses, Rael remains one of the more talented fighters in the 105-pound women’s division and she will look to hand Harris her first professional defeat.
Made For War 1 takes place on October 13th at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock, Colorado. The event also features an MFW Featherweight Championship bout between Cameron “Money Man” Dollar and Chris Manuel and an MFW Welterweight Championship bout between Joe “Diesel” Riggs and Josh Cavan.
