After a month of uncertainty, rising star Sheila “The German Tank” Gaff has found an opponent. The 125-pound standout has agreed to face Colorado native Angela Hayes at Cage Warriors Fighting Championship: “Fight Night 2,” which is set to take place on September 8th in Amman, Jordan.
MMARising.com confirmed plans for the matchup with a source close to the negotiations today. Bout agreements have not yet been signed. Gaff was originally set to face Rosi “The Surgeon” Sexton in a women’s title fight at CWFC 43 in July, but the bout with Hayes is not expected to be for a title.
Gaff (9-4-1) looked to be without a fight for Cage Warriors after Sexton was forced to withdraw due to injury last month. Close to a dozen fighters declined offers to fight Gaff; due partly to her reputation as one of the hardest hitters in the 125-pound division, while scheduling issues also played a part. She is coming off of back-to-back first-round knockout wins, including an April stoppage of NAAFS champion Aisling “Ais The Bash” Daly. Gaff has been to a decision just one time in her career and all nine of her wins have come by stoppage.
Hayes (4-5-0) will enter the bout with Gaff as an underdog, but she has won three straight fights and is coming off of her biggest victory to date. In May, she earned a Unanimous Decision win over former Tuff-N-Uff champion Tsui-Jen Cunanan in Colorado. Prior to that, Hayes scored a pair of submission wins in 2010. All five of her career losses have come against top opposition, including defeats at the hands of 135-pound standouts Tonya Evinger, Jennifer Tate and Julie Kedzie. Hayes has gone the distance only twice in her professional career.
While Gaff is no longer expected to be competing for a title, she will have an opportunity to pick up her second straight win for Cage Warriors. Hayes will be making her promotional debut, but a victory over the surging Gaff would make a big statement in the increasingly competitive 125-pound division.

Jordan?! say what?
Gaff is powerful but raw.
Don’t know much about Angela.
Yeah Amman, Jordan the new hotbed for MMA in the Middle East. The fighters were mobbed by fans the last time we was out there.
First class facilities and arena and only 5 hours from London, there are worse places to go !
