Raging Wolf Women’s Flyweight Champion Alexis Davis will return to action on May 8th when she defends her title against late replacement Tonya Evinger. The bout, to be contested at 135 pounds, will headline RW 7: “Mayhem In The Mist 3” in Niagara Falls, New York.

Davis captured the title last October with a five-round decision victory over Molly “The Maulinator” Helsel and most recently engaged in a competitive battle with Shayna “The Queen of Spades” Baszler in Freestyle Cage Fighting. Evinger enters the fight in place of an injured Elaina Maxwell.

Davis (7-3-0) faced current Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight Champion Sarah Kaufman in her April 2007 debut and gave Kaufman all she could handle in a third-round losing effort. She rebounded with six straight wins and nearly went the distance in 2009’s Women’s Fight of the Year against top female star Tara LaRosa. Davis controlled much of the October Raging Wolf bout with Helsel and captured her first major title in the process. Having come up just short in the razor-thin submission war with Baszler, Davis will look to get back on the winning track when she defends her title for the first time.

Evinger (7-3-0), like Davis, dropped her pro debut but battled back with a string of victories. She faced Gina “Conviction” Carano at EliteXC: “Uprising” on September 15, 2007, but succumbed to a rear-naked choke very late in the first round. Evinger has since won three straight fights over Katrina Alendal, Julie “Fireball” Kedzie and heated rival Sarah “White Tiger” Schneider. However, she has not competed since the June 2008 grudge match with Schneider and ring rust could be a factor as the outspoken Evinger aims to capture the Raging Wolf title.

Raging Wolf 7: “Mayhem In The Mist 3” takes place on May 8th at the Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel in Niagara Falls, New York.
