Undefeated Canadian prospect Rory “The Waterboy” MacDonald may be a part of the UFC’s first card in his native British Columbia. The 20-year-old has verbally agreed to face former WEC Welterweight Champion “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit at UFC 115 on June 12th in Vancouver.
MacDonald was victorious in his Octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 20 and has yet to taste defeat in 10 career fights. Condit was recently forced to withdraw from a UFC 108 clash with Paul “Semtex” Daley due to a severe hand injury. MMAjunkie.com reported on the planned bout earlier today.
Condit (24-5-0) has met with mixed success since joining the UFC’s ranks. The former WEC star dropped a contested split decision to Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann in his UFC debut and rebounded with a razor-thin victory over Jake Ellenberger in September. Prior to that, Condit had only gone to a decision once in his entire career. The well-rounded Albuquerque native was set to face Daley in a pivotal bout at UFC 108, but was forced to withdraw after suffering a bad cut on his hand that later became infected.
MacDonald (10-0-0) has finished all of his opponents to date. With an excellent submission game and solid power in his hands, MacDonald has emerged as one of the top young stars in Canada. He is a former champion in both King of the Cage and King of the Cage Canada and holds notable KOTC victories over “Ragin” Kajan Johnson and Clay French. MacDonald submitted Mike “Joker” Guymon in his UFC debut and would take a big step up in competition should he face Condit.
UFC 115 is set to take place on June 12th at General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The event will air live on pay-per-view.
