Duane "Bang" Ludwig To Face Spencer "The King" FisherThe Ultimate Fighting Championship’s debut card on the Versus network is set to be an explosive one. MMAWeekly.com is reporting that UFC Fight Night 21 will feature a lightweight bout between hard-hitting veteran strikers Duane “Bang” Ludwig and Spencer “The King” Fisher. Ludwig will compete in front of his hometown Colorado fans at the March 21st event.

Ludwig returned to the UFC on short notice against Jim Miller at UFC 108, but succumbed to a first-round armbar. Fisher also dropped his most recent fight and both will be hungry for a much-needed win.

Ludwig (19-10-0) holds ten wins by knockout and is known as one of the most technically sound strikers in the lightweight division. He has battled the best of the best throughout his career, including former PRIDE Lightweight Champion Takanori “Fireball Kid” Gomi and current UFC Lightweight Champion “The Prodigy” BJ Penn. However, submission defence has long been a problem for the Colorado native and he suffered his first UFC loss in the fight with Miller.

Fisher (23-5-0) is also a battle-tested veteran of the sport and has fought many tough opponents in his career. He holds a win over top welterweight contender Thiago “Pitbull” Alves and has developed a solid ground game to complement his excellent striking skills. Fisher is 8-4-0 in the UFC and has only been stopped twice in 28 fights, but a loss to Joe “Daddy” Stevenson at UFC 104 in late October derailed hopes for a future title shot.

Should the fight stay on the feet, it has all of the makings of a Fight of the Night candidate, as both fighters possess knockout power and both are competent strikers. The winner will be added to the lengthy list of contenders in the log-jammed division, while a loss for either fighter will be detrimental to their progress.

UFC Fight Night 21 takes place on March 21st at the Odeum Colorado in Broomfield, Colorado. For the first time, the UFC card will air live on the Versus network in the United States. It is not yet known which network will air the event in Canada.
