Brian Foster To Face Chris Lytle At UFC 110With Korean star Dong Hyun Kim sidelined due to injury, welterweight prospect Brian Foster will look to pick up his second straight UFC victory when he takes on battle-tested veteran Chris “Lights Out” Lytle at UFC 110 on February 21, 2010 in Sydney, Australia.

The welterweight bout will be part of the event’s undercard, but it is a pivotal one for both fighters. Lytle has alternated wins and losses in his last six fights and needs an impressive victory, while a win for Foster would establish him as a contender in the stacked division.

Foster (13-4-0) has never been to a decision in his entire career and has finished his opponents with a near-equal tally of knockouts and submissions. Coming off of a dismantling of former WEC title challenger Brock Larson at UFC 106, Foster is back on the right track and a victory over the UFC’s resident gatekeeper, Lytle, would propel Foster from prospect status to a legitimate threat at 170.

Lytle (27-17-5) has won all but five of his fights by knockout or submission and he has never been finished – aside from a pair of doctor stoppages due to cuts – in his lengthy career. Known for his huge heart and granite chin, Lytle has battled the best in mixed martial arts, but has come up short in his quests for major title gold. He most recently outlasted Kevin “The Fire” Burns at the TUF 9 Finale in June, but has not fought since due to a knee injury.

With both fighters possessing well-rounded skills, and Lytle having already won Fight of the Night honours four times in the UFC, the welterweight tilt is sure to be one of the best on the promotion’s debut card in Australia. The February 21st event emanates from the Acer Arena in Sydney and airs on pay-per-view.
