Deep Jewels 13 Live Play-By-Play & ResultsDeep Jewels showcased its 13th all-female fight card tonight at Differ Ariake in Tokyo, Japan. Deep Jewels 13 was headlined by a thrilling strawweight contender’s bout between the returning Mika “Future Princess” Nagano and once-beaten prospect Sachiko Fujimori, who was coming off of a quick win.

In tonight’s atomweight co-feature, Mina Kurobe and Tomo Maesawa met in a battle that could determine a future title challenger. Also at atomweight, highly-touted teen prospect Kanna Asakura squared off against Yoon Ha Hong. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the Deep Jewels 13 card.

 

Strawweight Bout – 3×5

Mika “Future Princess” Nagano vs Sachiko Fujimori

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Masato Fukuda. Fujimori opens the action with left jabs, but Nagano takes her down into mount and attempts an armbar from the top. Fujimori scrambles out and sweeps into Nagano’s half-guard. She throws hammerfists and moves to side control. Nagano escapes to her knees and drives forward for a takedown, but Fujimori sprawls. Nagano switches between single- and double-leg takedown attempts, but Fujimori hurts her with hammerfist counters. Nagano drops down to the mat and Fujimori continues to land hammerfists from side control.

Round 2:
Nagano counters Fujimori’s hooks with a much-needed takedown early in round two. She stays active on the ground by landing hammerfists from Fujimori’s guard. Fujimori postures for a triangle choke from the bottom and slowly tightens the choke while also attacking with hammerfists. She keeps Nagano trapped in the triangle until the end of the round, but Nagano is saved by the bell.

Round 3:
Nagano once again counters Fujimori’s punches by taking her down in round three. She is cautious and escapes from a Fujimori guillotine choke. From the top, Nagano spins into an armbar. Fujimori tries to escape, but her arm is bent back at an awkward angle. Referee Fukuda has seen enough and stops the fight, giving Nagano a come-from-behind victory.

Winner: Mika Nagano by Technical Submission (Armbar) at 2:34 of round three. She improves to 15-9-0.

 

Atomweight Bout – 2×5

Mina Kurobe vs Tomo Maesawa

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kenichi Serizawa. Maesawa uses jabs to prevent Kurobe from closing the distance in the early goings. Kurobe eats a series of jabs, but she manages to clinch and scores with knees. Maesawa spins and breaks free. She is successful with a single-leg takedown, but Kurobe quickly stands up. Maesawa lands more jabs and counters Kurobe’s strikes with a waist tackle.

Round 2:
The fighters circle and trade jabs in round two. Both women thwart the other’s takedown attempts. Maesawa ultimately gets Kurobe down, but she cannot hold her there for long. Kurobe stands and Maesawa takes her back on the feet. Kurobe turns into the clinch and breaks free before firing off left hooks. Maesawa keeps her at bay with jabs until the end of the bout.

In spite of Maesawa’s apparent control of the fight, judges Hidenobu Koike, Yoshinori Umeki and Masato Fukuda all score it for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Kurobe.

Winner: Mina Kurobe by Unanimous Decision after two 5:00 rounds. She improves to 8-2-0.

 

Atomweight Bout – 2×5

Kanna Asakura vs Yoon Ha Hong

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Yoshinori Umeki. Hong throws right straights in round one and Asakura answers with leg kicks. She shoots in for a takedown, but Hong grabs the rope and sprawls. Asakura alternates between single- and double-leg takedowns, and she lands some nice ground and pound. Hong tries to use the corner to stand, but Asakura stalls her by holding her leg. Hong eventually gets back to her feet and Asakura immediately clinches. Referee Umeki separates the fighters and Hong throws straight right hands. Asakura counters with a waist tackle and punches to the body from Hong’s guard.

Round 2:
Asakura relentlessly pursues takedowns in round two and avoids Hong’s punches. She ducks under Hong’s left hooks and takes her down. Hong immediately stands back up, but Asakura takes her down again and again. Hong scrambles up and Asakura secures two harai goshi throws. Each time Hong stands up, Asakura effortlessly takes her back down to the mat. This continues all the way until the end of the one-sided fight.

Judges Hidenobu Koike, Kenichi Serizawa and Masato Fukuda all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Asakura.

Winner: Kanna Asakura by Unanimous Decision after two 5:00 rounds. She improves to 5-1-0.

 

Strawweight Bout – 2×5

Tanja Hoffmann vs Daiichi “Leader” Date

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kenichi Serizawa. Hoffmann lands a straight right hand early in the fight that prompts Daiichi to clinch. The fighters are separated and Hoffmann avoids Daiichi’s clinches by landing left hooks. She reverses a clinch and takes Daiichi down straight into mount. Hoffmann lands several hard punches and works for an armbar, but Daiichi escapes and regains full guard. Hoffmann lands hammerfists late in the round.

Round 2:
Hoffmann clinches in round two and attempts a harai goshi throw, but there is too much rotation and Daiichi takes top position on the ground. She tries to pass Hoffmann’s guard, but Hoffmann latches on to her arm from the bottom and attacks with an armbar. Daiichi defends and Hoffmann switches to a leg lock in a scramble. Daiichi avoids danger and retakes top position. Hoffmann traps her arm and prevents her from attacking until the bell.

Judges Hidenobu Koike, Yoshinori Umeki and Masato Fukuda all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Hoffmann.

Winner: Tanja Hoffmann by Unanimous Decision after two 5:00 rounds. She improves to 6-4-0.

 

Atomweight Bout – 2×5

Pan “Kai” Hui vs Yuko Kiryu

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kosuke Umeda. Hui clinches in the opening minute and both women land knees until they are separated. Kiryu scores with a front kick and Hui responds with a left hook. She clinches, but little transpires and the referee calls for a break. Hui drops Kiryu with a left cross and tries to take top position on the ground, but Kiryu stands up and initiates a clinch. The fighters battle for position and both try unsuccessfully for takedowns.

Round 2:
Hui opens round two with a left hook and the fighters are broken apart after a brief clinch. Hui continues to get the better of the striking exchanges by landing right hooks and straight left hands. Kiryu lands a front kick after a failed clinch and Hui fires back with left hooks. Kiryu clinches, but Hui lands knees. Kiryu throws big left hooks in a late comeback, but time expires.

Judges Kenichi Serizawa, Yoshinori Umeki and Masato Fukuda all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Hui.

Winner: Pan Hui by Unanimous Decision after two 5:00 rounds. She improves to 3-1-0.

 

50kg Kickboxing Match – 2×3

Eriko Nagata vs Real Date

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Yoshinori Umeki. Real moves forward and throws looping hooks early on. Nagata uses her elbow to create space and lands a right straight. Referee Umeki breaks the fighters apart many times, but they both use the same strategies throughout the round.

Round 2:
Nagata picks up the pace in round two and lands flurries of punches. She clinches as well and is effective with knees as Real slows down. Real begins to find a second wind late in the round and she attempts to engage in a wild brawl with Nagata.

Judge Kenichi Serizawa scores the fight even. Judges Masato Fukuda and Hidenobu Koike both have it for the winner by Majority Decision, Nagata.

Winner: Eriko Nagata by Majority Decision after two 3:00 rounds.

 

Flyweight Bout – 2×5

Yukari Nabe vs Nao Date

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Hidenobu Koike. Nabe secures an uchi mata throw into mount and scores with a barrage of punches from the top. Nao tries for a leg lock, but Nabe rains down hammerfists to the face while Nao’s head is near Nabe’s leg. Referee Koike eventually breaks the fighters apart and Nabe scores a takedown directly into mount. Nao secures a sweep from the bottom and searches for another leg lock. Nabe moves to side control to avoid danger and then to North-South position.

Round 2:
Nabe once again takes Nao down into mount in round two and she aims for an armbar. Nabe mixes in ground and pound, but Nao uses her legs to kick her off. Nabe passes to side control and then to mount again. Nao traps Nabe with her legs, but she is stacked in the process and the fighters are separated. Nao tries to brawl, but Nabe clinches and takes Nao down into half-guard. She lands elbows to the body and moves to mount late in the round.

Judges Masato Fukuda, Kenichi Serizawa and Yoshinori Umeki all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Nabe.

Winner: Yukari Nabe by Unanimous Decision after two 5:00 rounds. She improves to 1-0-0.
