Invicta FC 17 Bonuses: Ostovich vs Beck Named Fight Of The NightFlyweight prospect Rachael Ostovich earned a key victory on Saturday night at Invicta Fighting Championships 17 in Costa Mesa, California. The Hawaiian edged out Ariel Beck on the preliminary card, and both Ostovich and Beck took home an additional $1500 for Fight of the Night honours.

MMARising.com confirmed the bonus with Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp, along with two Performance of the Night winners. Newly-crowned Invicta FC Strawweight Champion Angela “Overkill” Hill and featherweight contender Megan Anderson earned an additional $1000 for their wins.

Ostovich (3-2-0) and Beck (4-3-0) engaged in a highly entertaining battle on Saturday’s preliminary card that began with Beck in complete control early on. She hurt Ostovich with a left hook to the liver and continued to punish her midsection with knees. Ostovich weathered the storm in round one, as well as some strong ground and pound from Beck early in the second stanza, and she rallied late in round two with a key takedown that led to rear-naked choke and armbar attempts. Ostovich scored another crucial takedown in round three that allowed her to threaten with a keylock and a guillotine choke.

The close bout went to the scorecards and Ostovich was awarded a Split Decision victory with a pair of 29-28 scorecards. A third judge saw the fight 29-28 for Beck. All three rounds were filled with action, and the fighters were justly rewarded with Fight of the Night bonuses.

In Saturday’s co-feature, Hill (5-2-0) captured the Invicta FC strawweight title with a hard-fought Split Decision victory over former champion Livia Renata “Livinha” Souza (9-1-0). While the first round clearly belonged to Souza, Hill showcased her much-improved takedown and submission defence during the remainder of the fight. She landed crisp combinations on the feet and thwarted most of Souza’s takedowns. Souza threatened with last-minute submissions, but time ran out. One judge saw the fight 48-47 for Souza. The remaining two both had it 48-47 for new champion Hill, who also claimed one of two Performance of the Night bonuses.

The second Performance of the Night bonus went to Anderson (6-2-0), who steamrolled Amanda “The Lady Killer” Bell (3-4-0) in a featherweight bout. Anderson rocked Bell with a left hook in the opening seconds and she battered Bell with more punches as the round progressed. In the dying seconds, Anderson stunned Bell with a head kick and dropped her with punches. Time expired in the round, but Bell could not continue and Anderson’s TKO stoppage was enough to earn her an extra $1000.
