“The California Kid” Urijah Faber vs Frankie Saenz

Round 1:
Faber scored first by targeting Saenz’s liver and he briefly looked to secure a guillotine choke after a clinch against the cage. Saenz evaded danger and landed a leg kick that dropped Faber to a knee. He followed with knees in close, but Faber tagged him with punches and elbows over the top. Faber landed a step-in knee and Saenz fired back with two right hooks. He stuffed a takedown and landed knees to the body. Another knee scored for Saenz before the bell. Close opening round. 10-9 Faber.

Round 2:
Faber rocked Saenz with a big knee in round two and he swarmed on him with punches and elbows. Saenz recovered against the cage, but Faber threw him to the mat and landed on top in a top-side crucifix. Saenz swept and the fight returned to the feet. Saenz knocked Faber down with another leg kick and Faber began to slow down. Saenz scored with a kick-punch combo and he fought off a takedown attempt. He nearly took Faber’s back in a scramble late in the round. 10-9 Faber.

Round 3:
Saenz chopped away at Faber’s lead leg with kicks and he followed with right hands in the final round. Saenz landed knees to the body in a clinch and he worked for a takedown against the cage. Faber stayed on his feet and landed two knees. Both men landed solid right hands and Faber began to limp from the impact of Saenz’s kicks. Faber jabbed and Saenz kicked to the body. Faber took him down against the cage and Saenz battled back to his feet. He landed a body kick and countered a takedown with a heel hook attempt. Another close round. 10-9 Saenz, barely.

Winner: Urijah Faber by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 33-8-0.

 

Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres vs Jocelyn “Lights Out” Jones-Lybarger

Round 1:
Torres landed a flurry of punches early on and Jones-Lybarger answered back with a combination of her own. Torres set up more punching flurries with leg kicks and she cracked Jones-Lybarger with a right hook over the top. More right hands landed for Torres and she pinned Jones-Lybarger against the cage. She stomped on Jones-Lybarger’s feet and snuck in short left hands. 10-9 Torres.

Round 2:
Both women landed right hooks early in the second round and Jones-Lybarger initiated a clinch. Torres reversed position and landed two right hands, but Jones-Lybarger countered with a knee. The fighters clinched once more and Torres scored with a nice combination after breaking away. Jones-Lybarger shot in for a takedown and Torres reversed into top position. Jones-Lybarger struck with elbows from the bottom and Torres blasted her with punches before the bell. 10-9 Torres.

Round 3:
The fight returned to a clinch in round three, but Jones-Lybarger broke free and Torres tagged her with two right hands. She followed with a side kick to the body and more right hands. Jones-Lybarger’s left eye began to swell up from Torres’s right hooks and she clinched against the cage. Torres countered with elbows and circled away. Big punches scored for Torres and a wounded Jones-Lybarger retreated to the cage. Torres cracked her with more hard shots late in the round and Jones-Lybarger fired back with a left hook before time expired. 10-9 Torres.

Winner: Tecia Torres by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after three rounds. She improves to 7-0-0.

 

Warlley Alves vs Colby “Chaos” Covington

Round 1:
Alves landed a solid body kick right away and followed with a knee before pulling guard with a guillotine choke. Covington escaped and pinned Alves against the fence. Alves jumped into another guillotine choke and Covington tried to slam his way free. He could not escape and was forced to submit.

Winner: Warlley Alves by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 1:26 of round one. He improves to 10-0-0.

 

Leonardo Santos vs Kevin “The Motown Phenom” Lee

Round 1:
Both fighters landed numerous kicks to the legs and body in the first half of round one and Santos scored with straight right hands. Lee replied with a combination, but Santos took him down and hopped on his back as Lee stood up. Lee spun free and landed a head kick, but Santos floored him with a huge right hook. He swarmed on Lee with more punches on the ground and the fight was stopped. Big win for Santos.

Winner: Leonardo Santos by TKO (Punches) at 3:26 of round one. He improves to 15-3-1.

 

Magomed Mustafaev vs Joe Proctor

Round 1:
Proctor kicked at Mustafaev’s lead leg early on, but it only seemed to anger Mustafaev and he pressed forward with hard kicks and punches that backed Proctor up against the cage. Proctor weathered the storm once and circled away, but Mustafaev stalked him and landed two vicious body kicks. Proctor retreated to the cage and Mustafaev hurt him with knees. Proctor fell to the mat and Mustafaev teed off with punches until the fight was stopped.

Winner: Magomed Mustafaev by TKO (Knees & Punches) at 1:54 of round one. He improves to 13-1-0.

 

Yancy “The Kid” Medeiros vs John “The Bull” Makdessi

Round 1:
Medeiros kicked from a distance in round one and Makdessi looked to set up a spinning attack. He jabbed and followed with a right cross. Medeiros continued to strike from the outside and he ate a side kick to the ribs. Makdessi landed a combination and a spinning back kick to the body. He caught a kick and countered with a stiff jab before time expired. 10-9 Makdessi.

Round 2:
Makdessi effectively countered Medeiros’s strikes in the second round by landing right hands and leg kicks. He mixed in jabs as well and scored with a spinning wheel kick. Makdessi backed Medeiros up with punches and more body kicks. Medeiros landed a nice right hand in return, but Makdessi remained the aggressor. The fighters clinched and Makdessi fought off a takedown. Medeiros finished the round with a one-two. 10-9 Makdessi.

Round 3:
Makdessi landed a side kick to the face in the final round and the fighters exchanged left-right combos. Medeiros connected with two more right hands and Makdessi fired back with a spinning back kick. He walked Medeiros down and landed kick-punch combinations in the final two minutes. Medeiros circled away and countered with right hands. The fighters exchanged powerful strikes and Medeiros knocked Makdessi down with a counter left hook with mere seconds to go. Makdessi stood and both men landed big shots to end the fight. 10-9 Medeiros.

Winner: Yancy Medeiros by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 12-3-0, 1 NC.

 

Court “The Crusher” McGee vs Marcio “Lyoto” Alexandre Jr.

Round 1:
Alexandre kept his distance in the opening two minutes and repeatedly scored with kicks to McGee’s lower and upper body. McGee eventually clinched, but Alexandre broke free and landed a combination. Time was called after Alexandre was kicked in the groin. Action resumed and McGee rushed in with a spinning backfist. Alexandre locked on a guillotine choke and pulled guard, but McGee escaped and finished the round with ground and pound. 10-9 Alexandre.

Round 2:
The second round began with an exchange of leg kicks and McGee initiated a clinch. Alexandre created space and circled away, but McGre closed in and pinned him against the fence again. He worked for a takedown and threw knees to Alexandre’s thighs. The fighters were separated and McGee landed a three-punch flurry. Alexandre countered with a straight left hand shortly before the bell. 10-9 McGee.

Round 3:
McGee took Alexandre down early in the final round, but Alexandre used the cage to work back to his feet. McGee landed a combination and Alexandre backed away. The fighters traded body kicks and straight punches until McGee clinched with Alexandre against the fence. He slammed Alexandre to the mat and landed punches from the top. He punished Alexandre with elbows in the final minute. 10-9 McGee.

Winner: Court McGee by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 17-4-0.
