Japan’s all-female Deep Jewels promotion returned with its sixth fight card tonight at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo. Deep Jewels 6 was headlined by a Deep Jewels Featherweight Championship trilogy fight between reigning champ Seo Hee Ham and top title challenger Saori “Shooting Star” Ishioka.

Also on tonight’s card, recent WSOF title challenger Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino looked to get back on track in her Deep Jewels return against Ayaka Miura. Top star Shizuka Sugiyama faced Yurika Nakakura in a rematch from September 2012. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the card.

Seo Hee Ham vs Saori “Shooting Star” Ishioka

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kenichi Serizawa. Ishioka opens the fight with body kicks and clinches. She attempts a kosoto gari throw and takes Ham’s back in a scramble. Ham reverses position, but Ishioka quickly tries for an armbar. She sweeps and scores with ground and pound from the top. Ham gives up her back and Ishioka lands a series of hammerfists. Ham tries to scramble and sweep, but Ishioka mounts her in the process. She tries for an armbar and the fight returns to the feet. Ham lands jabs before the bell, but round one belongs to the challenger.

Round 2:
Ham lands a left hook early in round two, but time is called seconds later when Ishioka is inadvertently poked in the eye. The fight continues and Ham throws kicks. Ishioka counters with a right hook and clinches. She trips Ham for a split second, but Ham immediately returns to her feet. Ishioka attempts a single-leg takedown and Ham sprawls. She pushes Ishioka down and mounts her, then works for a top-side triangle choke. Ham switches to an armbar and referee Serizawa stops the fight at 2:43.

Winner: Seo Hee Ham by Technical Submission (Armbar) at 2:43 of round two. She improves to 15-5-0 and remains the Deep Jewels Featherweight Champion.

Emi “Kamikaze Angel” Fujino vs Ayaka Miura

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Kenichi Serizawa. Miura backs Fujino into a corner early on, but Fujino reverses position and the fighters are soon separated. Fujino presses forward and lands hooks before the fight returns to a brief clinch. Both women land right hands and Miura attempts a harai goshi throw, but fails. She succeeds on her second try, but Fujino immediately gets back to her feet. She dirty boxes and lands left hooks and right uppercuts in close. Miura secures a body-lock takedown and tries to pass Fujino’s guard, but Fujino scrambles and nearly stands before the bell.

Round 2:
Fujino lands right hooks and the fighters battle in a clinch in the corner in round two. Fujino throws short punches in close and fights off a double-leg takedown attempt. She looks tired, but successfully fends off more of Miura’s takedowns. The fighters are separated and Fujino lands a combination. She continues to connect with hooks and straight punches until Miura shoots in for another takedown attempt. Fujino stuffs it and takes her back, then punishes Miura with punches and hammerfists until time expires.

Judges Yoshinori Umeki, Kenichi Serizawa and Masato Fukuda all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Fujino.

Winner: Emi Fujino by Unanimous Decision after two rounds. She improves to 14-8-0.

Shizuka Sugiyama vs Yurika Nakakura

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Yoshinori Umeki. Sugiyama lands several hooks early on, but Nakakura catches a body kick and takes her down. Sugiyama immediately stands up and Nakakura secures a harai goshi throw, but the fight quickly returns to the feet again. Sugiyama lands short hooks and Nakakura clinches. A stalemate follows and the fighters are separated. Nakakura clinches again and Sugiyama attempts a throw, but fails and loses her balance. Nakakura takes her back as Sugiyama stands up before the end of the round.

Round 2:
Sugiyama lands combinations of straight punches and knees in the clinch in round two. Nakakura tries to counter with clinch strikes of her own, but little happens and referee Umeki calls for a break. Sugiyama lands left-right combos and Nakakura backs her into a clinch. Sugiyama stuffs a takedown and lands knees until the fighters are separated again.

Nakakura slows down and Sugiyama throws strikes more comfortably. She scores with more left-right combos, followed by uppercuts. Nakakura continues to chase her down in hopes of clinching, but Sugiyama counters effectively with knees and the fighters are broken apart. Sugiyama stuffs a takedown and lands hammerfists to the sides of Nakakura’s face until the bell.

Judges Akira Yamazaki, Kenichi Serizawa and Taku Aramaki all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Sugiyama.

Winner: Shizuka Sugiyama by Unanimous Decision after two rounds. She improves to 12-4-1.

Tomo Maesawa vs Yuko “Amiba” Oya

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Yoshinori Umeki. Oya begins the fight with two Yellow Cards for missing weight by 700 grams (1.54 pounds). Maesawa uses quick movement to get in and out with her strikes. Both fighters look to establish distance with their jabs and Oya lands a right hook. She secures a headlock throw, but Maesawa returns to her feet after briefly trying for an armbar.

Oya works for single- and double-leg takedowns and eventually gets one. Maesawa stands back up and tries for a guillotine choke when Oya shoots in for another takedown. Oya gets her down and Maesawa looks for an armbar before standing up. On the feet, Oya brawls and lands hooks until the bell rings to end the close round.

Round 2:
Maesawa succeeds at countering Oya’s rushing hooks by taking her down in round two, but Oya reverses and scores with ground and pound. Maesawa responds with upkicks and attempts an armbar soon after, but fails. Oya mounts her and moves to back control immediately, but Maesawa scrambles and winds up in top position. She lands punches and avoids an Oya armbar attempt.

A leglock battle ensues and Oya transitions from mount to back control again. Late in the round, Oya lands hammerfists to the sides of Maesawa’s head and the fighters fall into the ropes before the bell. Oya’s penalty of two Yellow Cards for missing weight plays a key factor in the judges’ decision.

Judges Masato Fukuda, Kenichi Serizawa and Akira Yamazaki all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Maesawa.

Winner: Tomo Maesawa by Unanimous Decision after two rounds. She improves to 4-4-0.

Mina Kurobe vs Satomi “Sarami” Takano

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Masato Fukuda. Takano uses right hooks to set up an early clinch and follows with knees until the fighters separate. She lands a right-left combo and tries to take Kurobe’s back in search of a standing rear-naked choke but fails. Kurobe works for a double-leg takedown and Takano sprawls. She attempts a takedown of her own, but Kurobe stuffs it and takes her back in the process. She locks on a tight rear-naked choke and referee Fukuda stops the bout at 4:02.

Winner: Mina Kurobe by Technical Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 4:02 of round one. She improves to 4-0-0.

Pan Hui vs Brittany Ann “Briko” Decker

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Masato Fukuda. Hui throws left jabs in the opening minute and Decker answers with combinations that partially land. The fighters clinch, but nothing happens and they are soon separated. Decker attempts a takedown, but Hui sprawls and lands knees in the clinch. They separate again and Decker tries to land hook combinations, but Hui goes inside and clinches. She attacks with more clinch knees and dirty boxing. Decker throws wild hook combinations and Hui counters with straight punches. Decker throws more combinations before the bell rings.

Round 2:
Hui lands short, straight punches while Decker throws looping hooks in round two. Decker attempts a double-leg and Hui sprawls. The fighters separate and Hui succeeds with a deashi barai sweep takedown. Her corner orders her to stand back up. Straight left jabs and right crosses land for Hui, and a fatigued Decker throws wild hooks that miss. Hui punishes her with left jab, right straight combinations until the bell.

Judges Yoshinori Umeki, Kenichi Serizawa and Taku Aramaki all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Hui.

Winner: Pan Hui by Unanimous Decision after two rounds. She improves to 1-0-0.

Yukiko Seki vs Naomi Taniyama

Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Akira Yamazaki. Taniyama throws low front kicks and right straights while circling early on. Seki chases and lands right hooks. She backs Taniyama into a corner and lands punches in the clinch. Seki targets the body and Taniyama’s movement slows down drastically. Seki lands numerous hooks to the head and body. She pushes Taniyama and mounts her, then lands a series of punches from the top until the bell.

Round 2:
Taniyama tries again to keep Seki at bay with kicks, but Seki chases her down with hooks. The sheer volume of punches to the head leaves Taniyama dazed and referee Yamazaki steps in to stop the fight at 1:17.

Winner: Yukiko Seki by TKO (Punches) at 1:17 of round two. She improves to 13-24-0.
