Dominick “The Dominator” Cruz vs Takeya Mizugaki

Round 1:
Cruz landed a nice right hand and dumped Mizugaki to the mat early in the feet. He rocked him with ground and pound and Mizugaki tried in vain to get back to his feet. Cruz kept him pinned against the base of the cage and he unloaded with big right hands until Mizugaki was out cold.

Winner: Dominick Cruz by KO (Punches) at 1:01 of round one. He improves to 20-1-0.

 

Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal vs “The” James Krause

Round 1:
Krause jabbed early on and ducked under counter hooks from Masvidal. An exchange of body kicks followed and Masvidal flurried to the head and body. Krause caught a kick and Masvidal briefly looked for a standing guillotine choke. A hard knee and a right hand scored for Masvidal and Krause replied with a body kick. He just missed with a spinning wheel kick and landed two lead left hooks. Masvidal put the pressure on with punches and body kicks that backed Krause up. The round ended in a clinch against the cage. 10-9 Masvidal.

Round 2:
Masvidal scored a takedown in the second round and maintained top control for more than a minute until Krause managed to battle back to his feet. Krause missed with a cartwheel kick and Masvidal landed a lengthy flurry and a body kick. He followed with a spinning hook kick and took Krause down. Krause swept and took back control. Masvidal reversed position and fought off a guillotine choke. The fighters stood and Masvidal dropped Krause with a one-two on the way up. 10-9 Masvidal.

Round 3:
The final round began with jabs from Krause, who did his best to combat punches from Masvidal. The fighters clinched briefly and Masvidal pressed forward in search of a takedown. He got Krause down, but Krause used the cage to get back to his feet. He attempted a takedown of his own and Masvidal easily shrugged it off. He landed a three-punch combo and a body kick. Punches were exchanged and Masvidal reversed a takedown into mount. Krause gave up his back shortly before the bell. 10-9 Masvidal.

Winner: Jorge Masvidal by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 28-8-0.

 

Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson vs Patrick “The Predator” Côté

Round 1:
Thompson jabbed and circled on the outside early on. Côté clinched and the fighters traded knees in close. Thompson broke free and landed side kicks to the body. He landed more body kicks and avoided counterpunches from Côté, who shot in for a takedown soon after. He tried to throw Thompson to the mat, but Thompson reversed on the way down and the fight returned to the feet. Côté came up short with a lunging flurry and Thompson stuffed another takedown. Close round. 10-9 Thompson.

Round 2:
Thompson opened round two with a combination and he continued to be successful with kicks to the body. Côté slipped and Thompson allowed him to stand. Côté connected with a lead left hook and Thompson responded with a three-punch combo. A nice right cross scored for Thompson and Côté worked for a takedown against the fence. Thompson countered with elbows and escaped from the clinch. A vicious left hook landed for Thompson and a fired-up Côté answered back with power punches before the bell. 10-9 Thompson.

Round 3:
Both fighters landed hard punches right away in round three and Thompson sidestepped a takedown. He kicked at Côté’s lead leg and followed with a head kick. Côté landed a right hook and tried unsuccessfully to take Thompson down. Thompson continued to pick his shots from a distance as the crowd grew restless. Thompson dropped Côté with a counter right hook, but Côté recovered on the ground and stood up. Thompson stuffed a takedown and landed punches from the top. Back on the feet, Thompson just missed with a spinning wheel kick. He landed a big combination in the final seconds. 10-9 Thompson.

Winner: Stephen Thompson by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 10-1-0.

 

Brian “Bad Boy” Ebersole vs John “Doomsday” Howard

Round 1:
Ebersole clinched and backed Howard up against the cage early in the fight. He landed short strikes in close, but the fighters were separated after a lull in the action. Howard scored with a hard leg kick and Ebersole countered with a takedown. He tied up Howard’s legs and took his back in search of a rear-naked choke. Howard eventually stood and shook him off. Ebersole landed an inadvertent illegal upkick from his back and time was called. The fight continued and both fighters landed kicks just before time expired. 10-9 Ebersole.

Round 2:
The second round began with an exchange of punches and Ebersole followed with knees in the clinch. Howard tripped him to the mat and worked for a kimura from half-guard. Ebersole tried to take Howard’s back, but Howard scrambled and secured back control himself. Howard looked for rear-naked chokes and he locked on a neck crank, but Ebersole powered out and spun into his guard. Ebersole tried to stand up and Howard took him back down. He remained on top until the bell. 10-9 Howard.

Round 3:
Ebersole jabbed and followed with leg kicks in the final round. Howard closed in with a combination and backed Ebersole up against the fence. Ebersole broke free with an elbow over the top. He landed more punches and shot in for a takedown, but Howard stuffed it. A hard leg kick scored for Howard, but Ebersole responded with a series of kicks to the body and lead leg. Howard caught one and clinched against the cage. Ebersole shot in for another takedown and Howard defended again. Another solid leg kick landed for Howard and he countered knees with uppercuts in the clinch. Close round. 10-9 Ebersole.

Winner: Brian Ebersole by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 51-16-1, 1 NC.

 

Kevin “The Motown Phenom” Lee vs Jon “Super Saiyan” Tuck

Round 1:
The fight began with an exchange of knees in the clinch and Lee scored with a head kick. Tuck answered back with a right hook and Lee landed more kicks. He countered a spinning back kick by taking Tuck’s back and suplexing him to the mat. Tuck scrambled back to his feet and Lee landed more knees. He took Tuck down once more and Tuck postured for an armbar. The fighters stood and Lee threw knees to the body. Time was called after a knee strayed low. Action eventually resumed and Lee landed more kicks and a flurry to the body. He tried for a takedown late in the round. 10-9 Lee.

Round 2:
Round two began with a low blow from Tuck, but the fight continued and Tuck attempted a head kick. Both men landed looping punches and Lee followed with an uppercut. Lee was struck in the groin again and Tuck was docked one point. After the restart, Lee targeted the body with knees and punches. He tried for a takedown and backed Tuck up against the cage. Lee dumped Tuck to the ground and Tuck tried for a triangle choke and an omoplata. Lee punched his way free and the fighters were stood up. Lee attempted a head kick and Tuck answered with a right hand. 10-8 Lee.

Round 3:
Both men landed leg kicks in the final round and Tuck tried to sweep out Lee’s legs as Lee slowed down. Lee knocked out Tuck’s mouthpiece with a right hand and he opened a cut on the bridge of Tuck’s nose with follow-up punches. Lee took Tuck down and continued to punish him with strikes from the top. Tuck bled heavily from the face as Lee dropped more punches until the end of the fight. 10-9 Lee.

Winner: Kevin Lee by Unanimous Decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) after three rounds. He improves to 9-1-0.

 

Manny “The Anvil” Gamburyan vs Cody “The Renegade” Gibson

Round 1:
Gamburyan pressed forward and badly missed with a diving takedown attempt. Gibson cracked him with a left hook and countered a body kick with a right hook behind the ear. He ragdolled Gamburyan to the mat and secured a front headlock. Gamburyan stood and landed a knee to the groin. Time was called, but the fight soon resumed and Gamburyan landed a leg kick.

Gamburyan ducked under a spinning hook kick and Gibson scored with right hands. One hurt Gamburyan and Gibson swarmed on him with punches and knees. Gamburyan dropped levels and took him down against the cage, but Gibson reversed and stood up. He landed a series of elbows in the clinch before the bell. 10-9 Gibson.

Round 2:
Gamburyan landed some wild right hands in the second round, but he was struck in the groin by a counter kick from Gibson and time was called. The fight eventually continued and Gibson dropped Gamburyan with a right hand. Gamburyan recovered and got back to his feet. A scramble ensued and Gibson took Gamburyan’s back on the ground. He landed short punches as Gamburyan stood against the cage.

Gibson missed with a spinning hook kick but connected with a nice right cross. He backed Gamburyan up against the cage and Gamburyan countered with a single-leg takedown. Gibson got to his knees and Gamburyan held him down against the base of the cage. He locked on a guillotine choke and Gibson tried to fight it, but he could not escape and tapped out with seconds remaining.

Winner: Manny Gamburyan by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 4:56 of round two. He improves to 14-8-0, 1 NC.
