Deep Jewels held its third all-female fight card tonight at Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan. The event was headlined by a special rules bout between newly-crowned Deep Jewels Interim Lightweight Champion Emi Tomimatsu and top prospect Mizuki Inoue, with a number of stipulations attached.
Also on the card tonight, former Jewels postergirl Shizuka Sugiyama took on Mizuho Sato in an open-weight bout, and Naho “Sugi Rock” Sugiyama battled Satomi “Sarami” Takano in a featherweight contender’s matchup. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for tonight’s Deep Jewels 3 card.

Emi Tomimatsu vs Mizuki Inoue
Note: Due to missing weight, Inoue starts the bout with two Yellow Cards and she is ineligible to attain a victory on her official record as a result of the foul.
Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Ryogaku Wada. Both women land left jabs and Inoue mixes in straight rights. She continues to land left-right combos and tries for a trip takedown. Tomimatsu defends, but Inoue takes her back. Inoue throws Tomimatsu to the mat with a harai goshi, but Tomimatsu stands back up. Inoue lands more left-right combinations and she hurts Tomimatsu with knees.
Round 2:
As in round one, Inoue lands more combinations of left jabs and right crosses in round two. She tries to take Tomimatsu’s back and the fighters fall to the mat with Inoue on top. Inoue looks to set up a choke and Tomimatsu attempts to sweep. Inoue then works for an armbar and Tomimatsu escapes into top position. She lands punches from the top and Inoue frames up another armbar. The fighters are stood up and Inoue lands left-right combos and knees.
Round 3:
Inoue remains effective with stiff jabs and straight right hands in the final round. She lands more punches in close until referee Wada separates the fighters. Inoue lands left hooks and attempts a trip takedown. Tomimatsu sprawls out and Inoue returns to her left-right combinations. She uses a single-leg takedown to get the fight to the ground. Tomimatsu winds up on top, but Inoue locks on an armbar and referee Wada stops the fight with no tap at the 3:57 mark of round three.
Under the set rules for the fight, Inoue was not eligible to win due to her failure to make weight for the planned title bout. As a result, the official record stands as a disqualification win for Tomimatsu, who was crowned as the new Deep Jewels Interim Lightweight Champion at the beginning of tonight’s event.
Winner: Emi Tomimatsu by DQ (Inoue Missed Weight) at 3:57 of round three. She improves to 7-7-0 and is now the Deep Jewels Interim Lightweight Champion.

Shizuka Sugiyama vs Mizuho Sato
Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Yoshinori Umeki. Sugiyama makes use of her reach advantage by repeatedly scoring with straight right hands. After landing more punches, she clinches with Sato and referee Umeki calls for the doctor to check on Sato’s swollen eye. Sato is deemed unfit to continue and the brief fight is stopped.
Winner: Shizuka Sugiyama by TKO (Doctor Stoppage – Eye Injury) at 1:15 of round one. She improves to 11-3-1.

Naho “Sugi Rock” Sugiyama vs Satomi “Sarami” Takano
Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Ryogaku Wada. Sugiyama lands a left hook and Takano loses her balance. Another left hook lands for Sugiyama and the fighters clinch. They break apart and Sugiyama continues to throw left hands. Takano answers with front kicks. Another clinch follows and referee Wada breaks the fighters apart. Sugiyama lands left-right combos and counters a body kick with a takedown. Takano stands and knocks Sugiyama down with a counter right hand.
Round 2:
Takano attempts a trip takedown and the fighters scramble before returning to their feet. Sugiyama lands left hooks and Takano tries to clinch. Both women score with leg kicks and knees. Sugiyama lands a right cross and Takano replies with a one-two. Time is called for the doctor to check on Takano, but action quickly resumes and she takes Sugiyama down with a hop-toss throw. Sugiyama sweeps before the bell rings.
Judge Tomoki Matsumiya scores the fight for Takano, while judges Ryogaku Wada and Yoshinori Umeki both have it for the winner by Split Decision, Sugiyama.
Winner: Naho Sugiyama by Split Decision after two rounds. She improves to 10-3-0.

Masako Yoshida vs Miyoko Kusaka
Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Masato Fukuda. Kusaka jabs early in the fight and Yoshida tries to counter with punches. The fighters trade punches on the feet and Kusaka tries for a takedown. Yoshida sprawls and referee Fukuda calls for a break after a lull in the action. Kusaka continues to try to get Yoshida down, to no avail, and time expires soon after.
Round 2:
Kusaka jabs again in round two and tries for a takedown. She stacks Yoshida on the ground, but Yoshida escapes. Kusaka takes her back down again and Yoshida counters with a triangle choke. She tightens the choke and keeps Kusaka trapped in it for the remainder of the round while landing punches from her back until the bell finally sounds.
Judges Ryogaku Wada, Yoshinori Umeki and Tomoki Matsumiya all score the fight for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Yoshida.
Winner: Masako Yoshida by Unanimous Decision after two rounds. She improves to 18-19-5.

Yuko “Amiba” Oya vs Mamiko Mizoguchi
Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Yoshinori Umeki. Mizoguchi tries to take Oya down right away and Oya sprawls. The fighters brawl and both land punches. Now Oya attempts a takedown and it’s Mizoguchi who sprawls. Referee Umeki separates the fighters and they exchange more punches. Oya lands two hooks to the jaw and takes Mizoguchi down with a double-leg takedown. She moves to Mizoguchi’s back and lands punches to set up a rear-naked choke that forces Mizoguchi to submit.
Winner: Yuko Oya by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 4:31 of round one. She improves to 7-3-0.

Sachiko Fujimori vs Shiori Hori
Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Masato Fukuda. Hori attempts a double-leg takedown and Fujimori sprawls out to defend. Hori backs her into a corner and continues to work for a takedown. She gets it, but Fujimori reverses on the way down and winds up on top. Fujimori tries for an armbar, but Hori escapes and this allows her to take top position. Fujimori sweeps and works from the top again. She moves to side control and then takes Hori’s back. Fujimori attempts an armbar, but fails. She sweeps again before the end of the round.
Round 2:
Hori presses forward in round two, but Fujimori takes her back and locks on a standing rear-naked choke, which forces Hori to submit.
Winner: Sachiko Fujimori by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 0:23 of round two. She improves to 3-0-0.

Brittany Ann Decker vs Haruka Kojima
Round 1:
Referee for this bout is Tomoki Matsumiya. Decker tries for a modified guillotine choke early in the match, but Kojima gets free and takes top position. Decker scrambles up and Kojima pushes her. Decker tries to take Kojima’s back and nearly does so just as the round ends.
Round 2:
In the second round, Decker tries for another guillotine choke. She gets a front choke locked on as the fighters fall to the mat and Kojima taps out at the 33-second mark.
Winner: Brittany Ann Decker by Submission (Front Choke) at 0:33 of round two.
