Holly Holm Improves To 6-0, Defeats Angela Hayes At "Havoc"Bantamweight superstar Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm once again showcased her world-renowned striking skills in victory tonight at Fresquez Productions: “Havoc” in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The ex-boxing champ ran her MMA record to 6-0 with a win over Angela “Hollywood” Hayes.

Holm picked Hayes apart with a variety of kicks and punching combinations throughout the fight, and she proved that she was not afraid of Hayes’s ground game by taking the action to the mat on multiple occasions. Holm’s dominance made it easy for the judges, who handed her a clear-cut win.

Holm (6-0-0) traded kicks with Hayes (6-7-0) early in tonight’s main event fight and she kept Hayes on the defensive with quick punching combinations. The fighters clinched and Holm looked for a takedown, but Hayes stayed on her feet. Holm pinned her against the fence and landed occasional knees. She eventually got Hayes down to the ground and dropped punches from a standing position. Hayes battled back to her feet and Holm scored with two hooks and a leg kick late in the round.

In round two, Holm opened the action with a front kick to the chest and a looping one-two. She mixed up her strikes well and countered a body kick from Hayes with another two-punch combo. Holm continued to target Hayes’s lead leg with kicks and she backed her up with a side kick. Holm landed punches to the body and Hayes countered with a head kick. Holm was unfazed and she landed more body kicks in the final minute.

Holm was light on her feet in the final round and she continued to score at will with leg and body kicks. She landed three head kicks that forced Hayes to retreat, but Hayes remained on her feet. She took Holm down with a bulldog choke attempt, but Holm escaped and rained down punches from mount. Hayes scrambled into a heel hook attempt and the fighters stood. Holm took Hayes back down just before time expired.

At the end of 15 minutes of action, the judges were united and all three scored the one-sided fight 30-27 for Holm, who was asked after the fight about her thoughts on potentially competing for the UFC in 2014. Holm sidestepped the question and instead opted to thank Legacy Fighting Championship, for whom she fought twice this year, and the local fans in Albuquerque.
