Tyra Parker Submits Michele Gutierrez At Dakota FC 16Georgia native Tyra “The Honey Badger” Parker evened her pro MMA record with an impressive win tonight at Dakota FC 16: &#8220Fall Brawl 2013” in Fargo, North Dakota. Parker submitted Michele “Diablita” Gutierrez with a slick armbar early in the second round of their featured flyweight matchup.

Tonight’s bout marked only the second time that Parker had seen round two in her pro MMA career. She picked up right where she left off following a dominant opening five minutes and got the one-sided fight back down to the mat early in the second round, where she locked on the fight-ending armbar.

Parker (3-3-0) countered early right hooks from Gutierrez (3-4-0) by clinching against the cage wall in search of a takedown. Gutierrez defended well, but Parker dropped down for a heel hook and she soon transitioned to a modified calf slicer that allowed her to trap Gutierrez in place while landing a series of hard right hands to the Las Vegan’s face. Parker remained in complete control of the fight and moved to mount late in the round, where she continued to score with strikes from the top.

Both women landed right hands in the second stanza and Parker pulled half-guard in order to get the fight back on the ground. She quickly latched on to Gutierrez’s left arm, but Gutierrez scrambled free and she appeared to be out of danger. Seconds later, Parker locked on another armbar and this time Gutierrez was forced to submit for the first time since her pro debut close to four years ago.

With her victory tonight, Parker has won three of her past four fights and all three wins have ended by way of armbar submission. Gutierrez has suffered defeats in three straight fights.

Winner: Tyra Parker by Submission (Armbar) at 1:29 of round two. She improves to 3-3-0.
