Holly Holm Knocks Out Allanna Jones At Legacy FC 21 In TexasFormer top-ranked boxing champion Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm kept her perfect MMA record intact with a highlight-reel knockout victory tonight at Legacy Fighting Championship 21 in Houston, Texas. Holm stopped Allanna “Hands of Stone” Jones with a head kick in round two.

Holm overcame an inadvertent thumb to the eye in the opening round that temporarily closed her right eye, and she carefully picked her shots with quick punches and body kicks. In round two, Holm added more kicks to her attacks and a final kick to the jaw left Jones unconscious on the mat.

Holm (4-0-0) stayed low early on and she landed straight lefts as Jones (2-3-0) jabbed. Holm followed with body kicks and a lead right hook, and she continued to throw side kicks to the body and single punches. Time was called after Holm was poked in the eye. Her right eye began to close, but action soon resumed and Holm picked her shots with one-twos and more kicks including one to the upper body in the final 20 seconds.

Holm jumped in with quick punches and body kicks early in the second round. She landed a pair of grazing left hands and attempted a head kick that was blocked. Seconds later, Holm threw another head kick that landed cleanly and dropped Jones like a rock. Holm followed up with one more punch on the ground before the bout was stopped.

Tonight’s win was Holm’s first since transitioning from boxing to a full-time career in MMA. She stated after the bout that she knows that she still has a lot left to learn and credited coach Mike Winkeljohn for calling out the combination that ultimately finished the fight. All four of the elite striker’s MMA wins have come via a form of knockout.

Winner: Holly Holm by KO (Head Kick) at 2:22 of round two. She improves to 4-0-0.

  1. Holly seems to be coming back to her kickboxing roots in MMA. She has scored a lot with kicks.

We could always see her vs Miriam Nakamoto or vs Germaine de Randaime… I’d mention Duda Yancovich, but Holly already beat her in boxing, and I think she would be even deadlier in MMA…

  2. The issue for Holm isn’t about fighting other kick boxers. The issue is wrestlers and bjj artists. What can she do against Tate, Bazsler, Zingano, Davis, and McMann. Never mind Rousey.

That said. Holm vs. Nakamoto in UFC would be epic. So would Holm vs. Coenen in 2014. UFC could have a lot of exciting non title matchups next year. And I have this feeling that want Holm to take out Cyborg.
