Andrew “Highlight” Craig vs Chris “The Crippler” Leben
Round 1:
Leben backed Craig up against the cage and landed punches in the clinch, but Craig answered with a hard knee to the body. Leben used an ankle pick to take him down, but Craig quickly stood. Leben pressed forward with punches and Craig landed another knee. Craig connected with a hard combination and Leben briefly took him down. Craig stood and landed a knee. Uppercuts were exchanged and Craig shot in for a takedown. Leben stuffed it and the round ended in a clinch. Close round. 10-9 Craig.
Round 2:
Leben once again pressed Craig up against the fence in round two and Craig broke away with a big knee to the jaw. Craig stuffed a takedown and he landed another knee. A standing elbow scored for Craig and he followed with an uppercut. Craig kept his distance and he countered Leben’s strikes with left and right hooks. Leben flurried in close and Craig countered with a knee and a right hook. 10-9 Craig.
Round 3:
Leben landed a nice combination in the final round, but Craig rocked him with a counter flurry and dropped him with more punches. Leben managed to survive an onslaught of punches on the ground and battled back to his feet. Craig landed punches as Leben pressed forward. Craig pushed Leben backward to the mat and he landed two punches from the top. The fighters stood and Craig took Leben down. He moved to half-guard and landed short strikes from the top. 10-8 Craig.
Winner: Andrew Craig by Split Decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 9-1-0.
“Stormin'” Norman Parke vs Kazuki Tokudome
Round 1:
Both fighters scored with one-twos in the opening minute and Parke followed with overhand lefts. Leg kicks and left hooks were exchanged and Tokudome clinched. Parke secured a brief takedown, but Tokudome stood and reversed a second takedown into top position. Parke threw short elbows from the bottom and Tokudome punched from the top. Parke swept and moved to side control, but he could not land anything before the bell. Close round. 10-9 Parke.
Round 2:
Tokudome landed a combination and Parke answered with a left hook. He stunned Tokudome twice with left hands and continued to throw more punches. Park landed a head kick and three left crosses, but Tokudome stayed on his feet. Parke scored a takedown, but Tokudome battled back to his feet and he landed a flying knee to the body. Parke flurried with punches and took Tokudome down into mount. Tokudome scrambled and the fighters stood. Parke landed looping left hooks late in the round. 10-9 Parke.
Round 3:
Tokudome worked for a takedown in round three and Parke sprawled out to defend. The fighters clinched against the cage and Tokudome landed a standing elbow. Tokudome reversed a takedown on the way down and he wound up on top, but Parke exploded back to his feet. Tokudome landing a glancing head kick and he followed with another one. He took Parke down, but Parke got back to his feet and landed a flurry. Tokudome attempted a guillotine choke as Parke took him down at the bell. 10-9 Tokudome.
Winner: Norman Parke by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) after three rounds. He improves to 18-2-0.
Gabriel “Napão” Gonzaga vs Dave Herman
Round 1:
Herman landed three body kicks to open the fight, but Gonzaga countered the third one with a massive overhand right that sent Herman crashing to the mat. Gonzaga unloaded with punches on the ground until Kim Winslow intervened to attempt to pull the heavyweight fighter off of his barely conscious opponent.
Winner: Gabriel Gonzaga by KO (Punches) at 0:17 of round one. He improves to 15-7-0.
Edson Barboza vs Rafaello “Tractor” Oliveira
Round 1:
Barboza landed leg kicks early in the fight and he followed with a kick to the liver. More hard kicks scored for Barboza, but Oliveira landed a nice counter right hand. He tried for a takedown, but Barboza stuffed it. Barboza landed a spinning back kick to the body and more leg kicks. He shrugged off a clinch attempt and continued to punish Oliveira’s lead leg. Oliveira began to limp on his leg, but he did land two solid counter hooks. Barboza attempted a spinning wheel kick at the bell. 10-9 Barboza.
Round 2:
Barboza opened round two with two leg kicks. He caught a kick from Oliveira and sent him to the mat with a right hand. Oliveira stood and returned the favour by tripping Barboza off of a kick. Barboza stood and knocked Oliveira down once with chopping leg kicks. Oliveira managed to stand up, but Barboza sent him to the mat with another kick and referee Herb Dean stopped the fight.
Winner: Edson Barboza by TKO (Leg Kicks) at 1:44 of round two. He improves to 12-1-0.
Brian Melancon vs Seth “The Polish Pistola” Baczynski
Round 1:
Melancon opened the action with a nice hook and he continued to press the action with lead left hands and uppercuts in close. Melancon countered a right hand from Baczynski with a left hook that dropped Baczynski to the mat. Melancon swarmed with punches on the ground, but he could not finish the fight and the fighters stood. Melancon scored a takedown and struck from the top. In the final five seconds, Melancon postured up with devastating ground and pound that left Baczynski unconscious at the bell.
Winner: Brian Melancon by KO (Punches) at 4:59 of round one. He improves to 7-2-0.
Mike Pierce vs David “Daudi” Mitchell
Round 1:
Pierce closed the distance immediately and he pinned Mitchell against the cage. Mitchell punches to the body to try to create space, but he could not break Pierce’s grip. Pierce continued to try for takedowns, but he could not get Mitchell down and Mitchell landed more punches and knees. Pierce landed knees of his own and the fighters continued to battle in the clinch. Both fighters landed right hands and Pierce followed with a leg kick. Close round. 10-9 Mitchell.
Round 2:
After a clinch in round two, the fighters exchanged three-punch combos. Mitchell stuffed more of Pierce’s takedown attempts as Pierce held him against the cage. Pierce took a step backwards and landed a big left hook that dropped Mitchell to the mat. Pierce dove in with hammerfists until the fight was stopped.
Winner: Mike Pierce by TKO (Punches) at 2:55 of round two. He improves to 17-5-0.
