UFC On FX 7: "Belfort vs Bisping" Live Play-By-Play & ResultsThe Ultimate Fighting Championship travelled to Geraldo José de Almeida State Gymnasium in São Paulo, Brazil tonight for UFC on FX 7: “Belfort vs Bisping.” The event was headlined by a middleweight showdown between veterans Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort and Michael “The Count” Bisping.

In other action, Daniel Sarafian tried for his fifth straight win when he faces C.B. “The Doberman” Dollaway. Gabriel “Napão” Gonzaga faced “Big” Ben Rothwell in a heavyweight bout. Thiago Tavares battled Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov at 155. MMARising.com has live play-by-play for the card.

 

Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort vs Michael “The Count” Bisping

Round 1:
The fight began with a cautious exchange of kicks in the opening minute. Punches were exchanged and both fighters landed. A one-two scored for Belfort and Bisping answered with a flurry in return. Belfort scored with a body kick and Bisping landed a right cross. Time was briefly called after Bisping was poked in the eye and the fight quickly resumed. A left hook and a body kick landed for Belfort and he rocked Bisping with a head kick. Belfort rushed in with punches, but Bisping recovered before the bell. 10-9 Belfort.

Round 2:
Belfort opened the second round with a left cross that bloodied Bisping’s nose. Another head kick floored Bisping and Belfort finished him off with punches on the ground.

Winner: Vitor Belfort by TKO (Head Kick & Punches) at 1:27 of round two. He improves to 22-10-0.

 

C.B. “The Doberman” Dollaway vs Daniel Sarafian

Round 1:
Dollaway jabbed early on and landed leg kicks. Left hooks landed for both fighters and Sarafian scored with a combination. Sarafian dropped Dollaway with a right hook to the temple and he landed hammerfists as Dollaway tried to take him down. The fighters stood and exchanged hard one-twos. Sarafian landed more rights to the face and left jabs to the body. 10-9 Sarafian.

Round 2:
Dollaway was more aggressive with his punches in round two and both fighters missed with flashy kicks. Sarafian clinched and Dollaway circled away. A big right hand rocked Dollaway, but he recovered quickly. Dollaway landed body kicks and Sarafian returned fire with jabs. He caught a Dollaway kick and tripped him, then landed a kick as Dollaway got up.

Sarafian mixed up his punches to the head and body, but Dollaway clipped him with a counter right. Dollaway badly hurt Sarafian with an uppercut very late in the round and dove in with punches and hammerfists from back control, but Sarafian managed to survive until the bell. 10-9 Dollaway due to the late rally.

Round 3:
Big punches found the mark for both fighters early in round three. Sarafian jabbed and Dollaway continued to find success with body kicks. Dollaway backed Sarafian up with punches and took him down. He moved to mount, but Sarafian scrambled to his feet and the fighters clinched against the cage. Dollaway got Sarafian down and took his back. He returned to mount, but Sarafian swept. Sarafian transitioned from mount to Dollaway’s back and worked for a rear-naked choke. Dollaway turned into Sarafian’s guard and the fighters stood. Dollaway latched onto Sarafian’s leg until the bell. 10-9 Dollaway.

Winner: C.B. Dollaway by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) after three rounds. He improves to 13-4-0.

 

Gabriel “Napão” Gonzaga vs “Big” Ben Rothwell

Round 1:
Rothwell opened the fight with a one-two and Gonzaga countered with a takedown. Rothwell stood against the cage and Gonzaga continued to pursue takedowns. Gonzaga tried to take Rothwell’s back, but Rothwell scrambled up. The fighters were separated and Gonzaga punched his way into a clinch. Rothwell pushed him away and threw a three-punch combo. Gonzaga landed a series of right hands and followed with a knee in close. 10-9 Gonzaga.

Round 2:
After an exchange of right hooks in round two, Gonzaga dropped Rothwell to his knees with two lunging rights. He locked on a standing guillotine choke and pulled guard. Rothwell was unable to escape and tapped out.

Winner: Gabriel Gonzaga by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 1:01 of round two. He improves to 14-6-0.

 

Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov vs Thiago Tavares

Round 1:
Nurmagomedov landed grazing left and right hooks early in the fight as Tavares threw kicks to the body. A lunging left uppercut floored Tavares and Nurmagomedov pummelled him with elbows and three big punches until the fight was finally waved off.

Winner: Khabib Nurmagomedov by TKO (Elbows & Punches) at 1:55 of round one. He improves to 19-0-0.
