Serbia’s Sanja Sučević posted her third straight win and second under the Super Fight League banner tonight at SFL 4 in Mumbai, India. Sučević dispatched of Spanish youngster Irene “La Nina” Cabello with a barrage of punches early in the second round of their co-main event matchup.
Sučević made an instant name for herself in mid-March by upsetting the previously unbeaten Lena “Hunter” Ovchynnikova at Super Fight League’s inaugural event. She has yet to go the distance in any of her professional fights and was dominant throughout tonight’s featured bout with Cabello.
Sučević (4-1-0) kicked off the action tonight with some strong leg kicks that set off a big exchange of punches. She dropped Cabello (1-2-0) with a looping overhand right and dove in with more punches from mount. Sučević became a bit too aggressive and wound up on the bottom after attempting a rear-naked choke. Cabello landed punches from the top as Sučević worked for a variety of submissions from her back. The round concluded with Sučević landing short elbows from Cabello’s half-guard.
Round two began with a spinning backfist from Sučević that immediately put Cabello on the defensive. Sučević rushed in with punches and knees, but Cabello weathered the storm. After a brief clinch, Sučević rocked Cabello again with another combination and she continued to tee off with punches on the feet until referee Yuji Shimada intervened to rescue Cabello from further punishment.
Sučević’s victory comes after a recent coaching stint on the SFL Challengers reality show competition. She is one of the top female fighters in the promotion today.
